As you may recall, ABC recently announced that they were reworking their Wednesday night schedule (in preparation for the return of Fox’s American Idol). That left fans of Day Break out in the cold as the Taye Diggs series would be pulled from the schedule after the December 27th episode had aired. There was some hope and speculation that the series would be moved to another night. We now know that’s not going to happen.
The Lost-replacing series Day Break has been pulled from the schedule even earlier than expected. The ratings for Day Break have continued to fall since its debut and the latest was no exception. The sixth episode, entitle “What If They Find Him,” attracted only 3.1 million households. As a result, ABC has yanked the drama effective immediately. Repeats of George Lopez and According to Jim will fill 8-10pm Wednesdays for the next two weeks (both sitcoms begin new seasons in January on Wednesday nights).
There are seven unaired episodes and, as of now, there are no plans to air them on the network (joining fellow dramas The Nine and Six Degrees). The good news is that ABC has said they will post the remaining episodes online, with a new episode being posted every Thursday for the next seven weeks. They may decide to release the episodes for purchase online via iTunes but I’m guessing that will have a lot to do with viewer demand.
It’s time to boycott abc till they put daybreak back on,Daybreak was their best show
Wow….I was rally excited that I got to follow a TV series now tht I had a new DVR for my birthday. Guess I choose poorly…better said, I guess ABC choose poorly. Thye have so much other junk on their line-up, I can’t believe they did not think that this could replace something (even if it wasn’t Lost).
I was used to the 4 weeks new, 4 weeks reruns with this network of a-holes, so that’s what I thought was going on with Daybreak. I can’t believe they cancelled it in the middle of the best show in years. I thought it was the going to end when Lost started anyway. I need the remaining episodes. What’s Taye Diggs Phone #?
When are they going to start posting the full remaining episodes online?
Hey ABC and all other networks thinking of dabbling into anything even remotely resembling sci-fi! Instead of dumping a sci-fi drama, why not dump your technologically risque performing shows on the Sci-Fi channel! Then you won’t have so many people mad at you when you drop a good show because your viewers can’t cope with watching Daybreak between General Hospital & Desperate housewives and at the same time!
I am so pissed!! DayBreak was one of the best new shows I’ve seen in a long time. I’m beginning to lose confidence in these new shows, since they get cut for whatever reasons there are. Why bother getting myself worked up over these new productions? I feel like I’ve wasted very valuable time. Maybe I’ll just start picking up shows after I see them on for a second or third or so season. I guess ABC could win me back if they made the remaining episodes of DayBreak available for FREE.
WTF is ABC thinking????????? I am so sick and tired of the networks putting on a show and then cancelling half way through the season? Idiots!
Why is it that when there is finally a good show with a black lead actor, the show is not given a chance for success? Why is ABC so quick to cancel something that barely got off the ground in the first place? The show was interesting from the start, and gaining momentum with the plot thickening and yet, ABC pulls it and leaves many interested viewers up in arms wondering when the next show is going to air….only to be disappointed when it never returns. I’m very displeased with ABC…finally there was a show with minority actors (more than… Read more »
And the lesson is….
Never, ever watch a series on ABC the first year. It’s just too painful to get your hopes up only to be let down again (Commander in Chief), and again (The Nine), and again (DAYBREAK!!!). I’m sticking with FOX where they give a series a fair chance!
Day Break was a really good show. I don’t usually watch ABC as I feel Fox has a lot of the best primetime shows, but I felt that they really made a break through with Day Break. I planned my Wed. nights around this show and for ABC to pull the plug on the show is ridiculous. Even worse, they said it would be available online…I have yet to see that.
Another great TV show screwed up by ABC. I’m amazed at some of the crap they move to different time slots and nights in an effort to stick with them, yet something as good as Day Break they just cancel. Just one more reason why ABC sucks. Well, at least there’s FOX!!
Daybreak is the ONLY show I made sure I watched every week. What a MISTAKE on ABC’s part to pull it.
ABC pulled day break, so i’m pulling ABC off. SO BOYCOTT
ABC BOYCOTT A.B.C. BOYCOTT ABC BOYCOTT BOYCOTT!
Daybreak what can you say about it a h*ll of a lot. But not for you ABC if one more good show gets taking off. If you read this know i liked the show and i think alot of people did too
I loved Day Break! Its the only show I made a point to watch every episode. There was no warning to the cancellation. I read they were supposed to make the remaining shows available online but have not seen them yet. Any word on them being available somewhere, sometime in the future?
