Let’s not fool ourselves. The Deception TV show has been cancelled by ABC after just one season. The mid-season replacement made its debut on March 11, 2018, but even smoke and mirrors couldn’t disguise its lackluster Nielsen ratings performance.
An ABC crime drama from creator Chris Fedak, Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as illusionist Cameron Black, with Ilfenesh Hadera, Lenora Crichlow, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins, and Vinnie Jones. Cameron is rocketing to the top, when scandal derails his show and his twin’s life. Now, this magician uses his tradecraft to help the Feds apprehend some of the most elusive criminals in the world and hopes to prove his brother, Jonathan (Cutmore-Scott), is an innocent man.
Jack Cutmore-Scott is an appealing actor. So far though, it seems he hasn’t found just the right vehicle. This is his second series in as many years not to survive past its freshman outing. Fox cancelled his comedy, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life after just one season in 2016.

In total, there were four single-season dramas on the Alphabet’s chopping block today: Marvel’s Inhumans, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Crossing, and Deception.
Variety has confirmed the Deception cancellation.

This show was different and therefore wonderful to watch. I actually loved the character development and the fact that we slowly learned the motives behind the characters. I love that the show episodes would stand alone not needing to watch shows sequentially to understand them. I know this station will put on some other inane silly fake reality or stupid game shows so as far as my viewing there is little to nothing of value to watch on this network. I truly loved the TV show Deception. We are in need of more feel good shows and less disturbing shows like Purge and other sucky shows like that. Please bring back Deception.

I loved Deception! I could not wait for season two especially after the season one finale. I am so sorry to see it go and was really looking forward to it. The premise was wonderful and the actors were terrific and it was like nothing else on television. I wish ABC had given it more time or a better time slot.

I think this show is great…clever, absorbing and wonderful leads plus supporting cast. Plus it is pure fun! I am so against this cancellation!!!!
I absolutely love this tv show. I fell totally in love with the characters. It is one of the best new shows I have seen and would really love to see a season 2. There are too many reality shows and this show is a breath of fresh air. Seems every show I start watching gets canceled after the first season what’s up with that? This show is so different from all the rest. Bring it back!!
I fell in love with this show from the first time I saw the trailer. Its hard to find a good show nowadays, because all of them are being chopped as soon as it starts getting interesting. This show should go on! The actors are great, the plot and storyline are very unique and different, and I just need to know what will happen next.i truly hope that deception gets picked up for another season!
Such a great show! I don’t know who didn’t like it and decided cancel it but it was really really really good! Not talking about bunch of other shows that I didn’t care about. But Deception as well as Limitless should have more seasons. Shame when something not even remotely good comes back and stays on the air but really shows don’t survive. I guess a show that makes you think doesn’t deserve a second season according people who decide the fate of shows. My wife and I both loved this show. One of the shows we both agreed upon including Scorpion and Timeless. Best magjc show since The Magician with Bill Bixby, while all you critics are out their saying its an ehh-ehh show their are those of us who get hooked on these shows and much like shows like Cheers and others that didn’t fair well on first season they earned a following and got big. That’s a damn shame. I was addicted it this show! It was great and funny. It left us at a cliffhanger on the last episode… i was hoping to see a season 2. I hope this show continues to play somewhere.
