What’s This TV Show About?
A Netflix political thriller, which ran for its first two seasons on ABC, Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland, Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto, LaMonica Garrett, Kal Penn, Maggie Q, Malik Yoba, Paulo Costanzo, Zoe McLellan, Ben Lawson, Tanner Buchanan, and Mckenna Grace. The conspiracy drama series centers on Tom Kirkman (Sutherland). After an attack on Capitol Hill wipes out the line of succession, this HUD Secretary becomes President of the United States.

Telly’s Take
Last year, ABC cancelled Designated Survivor, but Netflix picked it up for its third season. Whether they will cancel or renew it for season four is the question. We know that the show does well internationally and Netflix would have gotten that sort of information, before it sealed the deal. I think they’re more likely to renew it than cancel it. Netflix typically announces renewals within a month of release, so hopefully, if there’s good news for fans (and bad news for my tummy), we should know pretty soon. I’ll update this page with any developments, so subscribe for free updates on any Designated Survivor cancellation or renewal news.
7/24/19 update: Netflix has decided against ordering a fourth season of Designated Survivor.

i absolutely loved it ! i looked forward to seeing it every time. the characters were funny , smart and good looking. always left me wanting more, staying up late to watch just one more episode! so looking forward to another season sucks. please reconsider??!!
I am disappointed again!! Producers/sponsors don’t seem to have a clue regarding quality tv. Someone has to pander to the intelligent viewers and save intelligent shows with excellent actors. There is so much crap on tv that with over 600 channels, there are many evenings I can’t find anything worthwhile to watch. Bah Humbug!!!

The show spins for a politically invested audience…but the concept isn’t flexible enough for the insertion of heavy doses of T&A, liberalism, etc. No renewal. Too bad for KS, I really enjoyed the intersection of 24, The West Wing, and the antimatter version of House Of Cards.

The addition of foul language was not necessary. Cleanup the foul language and bring back the show!

I really enjoyed the first two seasons. The third season with the addition of the foul language did not add to the show for me. Call me old but had tough time getting through it. If it comes back I don’t think I will watch.
I agree. I also enjoyed the first two seasons. The third one added the foul language and bedroom scenes that did nothing for the show. Clean it up and add more seasons

Season 3 excellent but too much swearing to show it’s not on ABC anymore. Not necessary with outstanding cast/writing. I also disagree not taking liberal approach. Just one of the best.
