President Kirkman is returning for a third term. After lengthy negotiations, Netflix has made a deal to revive the Designated Survivor TV show for a third season of 10 episodes. Season three will debut in 2019.
ABC cancelled the low-rated political drama series after two seasons in May. It was rumored that the series was being revived last month because of production listings.

Executive Producer Mark Gordon Quote: “The continuation of the show via Netflix is a win-win for all involved. The story of President Kirkman and those around him has not been fully told and we look forward to working with our new partner in continuing the show for a global audience.”
Kiefer Sutherland Quote: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play President Kirkman for season 3 of ‘Designated Survivor’ with Netflix, eOne and Neal Baer. I believe this format will allow us to continue to delve deeply into storylines and issues concerning the American electorate that were not previously possible.”
Bela Bajaria Quote: “Timely and gripping, Designated Survivor has quickened the pulses of our Netflix members outside the US and Canada in its first two seasons. The international audience for the show drove our interest to bring the show to the world as a Netflix original for its third season and we are excited to bring the first 2 seasons to our US and Canadian members as well.”

What do you think? Do you like the Designated Survivor TV series? Will you be watching season three on Netflix?
I WOULD PREFER WATCHING DESIGNATED SURVIVOR ON—TV—-
We love watching the Designated Survivor because we like the story & the characters. We are very happy that Netflix will continue the series.
Previous comments about the network moving the show around from time slot to time slot and day to day made it next to impossible to find, and of course then ratings would fall. This is a wildly addicting show… intelligent and well written. The high caliber cast is such a draw. If Netflix is smart, they’ll continue the series on for several years 🙂
My husband is addicted to this show – the premise is great, the acting is award-caliber, and the moral is wonderful. If only the reality of our world was a teeny bit closer, as far as our politicians.
Have binge watched two seasons on Netflix. Love the program, loved the old “24” Keep the tension and intrigue coming. Can’t wait for it to begin and hope it goes for longer than 10 sessions
Fantastic series. So happy Netflix brought it back!
Can’t wait to see this series continued…love it!
I love the the designated Survivor Series when it was on ABC but I think Netflix can make it even better than it was great great cast and a phenomenal plot
Schedule was skipped around so much by network, no wonder it had “low” ratings.
Am SO happy it been rescued. Smart “political drama” mixed ith entertaining “action (sometimes silly) scenarios” keep it interesting.
Thank you Netflix, Designated Survivor was my favorite show and I’m so happy you are bringing it back.
I will definitely watch. It’s a chance to see democracy in action and the flaws of a heavily influenced Congress paid for by special interests. I feel patriotic when watching this show and feel great distress about what is really happening to democracy in this country. Thank you Netflix and I hope you create a season 4, 5, 6, …!
Thank You Neflix! This is a great show-allowing it to sunset properly is a great move-the same way Longmire was allowed to end the proper way-BRAVO Netflix, you have a dedicated subscriber here!
Very excite for a third season. A show that my wife and I watch together and have great discussions about the plot line and potential twists. Only a few shows will strike both male and female viewers and this happens to be one of them. Connection to the characters is made easy and as the drama unfolds you find yourself feeling the turmoil. Two thumbs up to Netflix for them continuing to step outside the lines and challenge the normal viewing experience.
Will watch season 3 and any other season aired. My heat sank when the series was cancelled Thanks Netflix.
I am so happy this is being renewed! Love the actors. Such a great story line and intriguing. I guess we have to accept 10 episodes, but renew for 4,5,6 +. I would like to see 10 spring and 10 fall. Love Love this show
