Dirty John is coming to the small screen. According to Deadline, Bravo has ordered two seasons of a scripted TV series inspired by the true crime podcast.
Based on the Los Angeles Times investigative feature by Chris Goffard, Dirty John centers on “‘Dirty’ John Meehan, his relationship with Debra Newell and his exploits. The series will tell the story of how Newell’s romance with Meehan spiraled into secrets, deception, denial and, ultimately, survival — with shocking ramifications for not just her, but her children.”
Season one will tell the tale of “a romance with the charismatic John Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial, manipulation, and ultimately, survival — with horrific consequences for an entire family.” Season two will have a different self-contained story. Additionally, Oxygen has greenlit a docuseries about the real-life “Dirty John,” John Meehan, and his many crimes.
No premiere dates have been announced yet.
What do you think? Have you read or listened to Dirty John? Will you watch the Bravo TV show?
This series was fantastic! The acting was incredible. There are so many dirtbag people out there. I dated one, I think its one out of 25 people in the world are sociopaths. It would be awesome to have a series for all the stories out there. Dirty John, Dirty Jane?
A female friend told me about the podcast for Dirty John after I had told her about a relationship I was in with a man. She encouraged me to listen. After listening to it, I realized I was in a similar relationship with this man and needed to distance myself right away. I am forever grateful to my friend. She may have saved my life.
