Grimm has done very well for NBC on Friday nights and is one of their highest-rated dramas. How has Dracula been performing? Is it safe or likely to be cancelled?
Based on the classic Bram Stoker story, Dracula takes place in London. The title character (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) poses as an American entrepreneur while he seeks revenge on those who cursed him. He doesn’t count on falling in love with a woman (Jessica De Gouw) who looks like his deceased wife. Others in the cast include Thomas Kretschmann, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Smurfit, Katie McGrath, and Nonso Anozie.
The series debuted on October 25th to a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.26 million viewers. This was a very respectable performance for a Friday airing.
Unfortunately, the ratings took a big dive in week two and then again in week three, falling to a 0.9 rating with 2.96 million.

After seven episodes, Dracula is now averaging a 1.1 in the demo and 3.46 million viewers. Unless the next few episodes see a good-size gain, the averages will keep dropping.
With ratings like these, it would seem unlikely that NBC would want to order a second season. However, the network has partnered with Sky Living on the series, decreasing their costs. Dracula started airing in the UK on Sky Living last Halloween.
It’s also worth noting that NBC renewed Hannibal last spring and that show drew even worse numbers on Thursdays.
So, essentially, Dracula’s fate could go either way. We’ll have to wait and see whether it will be cancelled or renewed for a second season.
But, what do you think? Do you like Dracula? Do you think it should be renewed or cancelled?
Please, do it again!
Please, please, please bring back Dracula for Season 2!!!!
Bring Back Dracula!!
Renew dracula
I am so disappointed about not being able to watch Dracula, JRM, is really a very good Dracula, he makes you think of what he might do next. I am so tired of watching court shows, sitcoms and police shows, we need a little fantasy in our lives. Please keep the show on.
Bring Back Dracula!!
As a longtime fan of anything “Dracula”, I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by the tv series. I like how they’ve kept just enough of the novel and Vlad Tepes’ history for fans of the novel yet ramped things up for the tv viewer. The costuming is wonderful and Rhys Meyers is perfect. I very much enjoy this show and do hope it will continue. It actually has kept me with NBC after Grimm brought me back.
I love watching this show, I even looked forward to seeing the new season. I guess the networks just could not find another slot? like maybe take one of the judges shows off at night and fill the slot with real entertainment.
keep the show, it is really good, and my family and friends, love the tv show too !
Are you serious you can’t be for real Hannibal is so wet please please please bring me back my Dracula.
look look look I was so disappointed they didn’t come on tonight
Dracula and Grimm are really the only reason for watching NBC what the Hell send Hannibal back to what ever night it was on and bring back my sexy Dracula.
My instincts were this is a show that would succeed on BBC, American viewers would not take the time to understand the series. I loved Jonathan Rhys in “The Tudors”. Why would you waste your time watching reality shows and sitcoms that have no depth, you have to think when watching Dracula.
I agree! I also loved his work in the Tudors. Get rid of “Hannibal”, return “Dracula”!!
Keep Dracula on the air!! I love watching Grimm with the kids, but Dracula….that’s just for my pleasure only!! We need more intellectual television! And Dracula feeds that craving! Johnathan Rhys – Meyers is so easy on the eye & I love the adult storyline!
Come on, why not give this show a real chance to succeed before you kill off an entertaining show…..My wife and I really have enjoyed the series and DVR’d it religiously….It was one of two shows we watch on network television on Friday nights along with Grimm….We are not big fans of many network shows and to lose this show will only prove our point of why we don’t watch much network television….Hopefully you will reconsider because we don’t like Hannibal and won’t watch it tonight or any other night….Please reconsider…
OMG, No Dracula today! What? Why! Gee, guess I’m having to surf cable. Not happy with NBC changing my routine. You know you practically have me all day. The Today Sow, Kathy Lee & Hoda, Access Hollywood, Extra Extra, The Voice, Chicago Fire, Parenthood Black List, and Dracula. Now you take my falling in love Fridays! What ever!
Not cool! Not into Hannibal!!!!
Bring back the Love…
Dont cancel the show god dammit. Dont cancel the show. When I was the first 3 eps I almost cried and lost my ovaries xD I was immediately in love, and there was actually not anyone I disliked? They all played their roles good as hell, and, I LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED!? Dracula dude honestly I believe this show is amazing I love how it was given its own twist. But please!!! When need to see more it just that important!?
Please, please, please bring this show back!!! I absolutely love it and look forward to it all week. The combination of talented actors and a gripping story line is so much better than most shows on TV these days! It is refreshing to have something new and different to look forward to watching. I’m very tired of reality shows and sitcoms anymore!
