TV show description:
This TV series gives a new take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle characters. It’s a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases.
Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare — a sober companion, Doctor Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). She was a successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago.
Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he’s devised his own post-rehab regimen — resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City.
Watson finds she has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. In the end, Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator.
Sherlock’s police contact is Captain Tobias “Toby” Gregson (Aidan Quinn). He knows, from previously working with Scotland Yard, that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team.
Episode #154 — The Last Bow
Amidst Holmes and Watson’s battle with tech billionaire Odin Reichenbach, the investigators receive word of their old enemy and Sherlock’s former love, Jamie Moriarty.
First aired: August 15, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Elementary TV series on CBS? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for season eight?
Most intellectually stimulating show on TV.
Look forward to next season and seeing any
episodes I might have missed.
J.L. Miller is a great actor.
Can’t believe a great show like this is to be cancelled!!!! Love the characters, love the mind stimulation, great story lines. With all the junk on t.v. this is one of the few shows my family and I loved.
Save this show please!
Like to see it renew.
Elementary is by far one of the best drama series to come out of America for a long time. The plots are great and the acting superb.
Elementary is without doubt the finest show on tv. The stories are superb and the acting of Sherlock has to be award winning.
Elementary is CBS – indeed any form of media entertainment – in exceptionally brilliant form. It is a show with no equal when all it’s nuances and exemplary acting are considered. I hope it continues for years to come. Sadly, for as yet unknown reasons the best shows seem to be the ones cancelled. I surmise it may be due to the declining interest in intellectual stimulation combined with the growth of vain “reality tv” and other forms of frantic non-cerebral nonsense that better suits those for whom intellectual pursuits are beyond their grasp – a group which unfortunately comprises… Read more »
I’m glad the show is coming back next year. I look forward to watching this show every week. It’s terrific.

Elementary is a dang good series…please do not cancel..just love watching Holmes & Watson every Thursday night…
We finally decided to give it a try since CBS actually kept it going longer than 6 episodes. We figured why bother – they always kill off shows just as you start getting into them. Well, we like it! We like it! …now CBS will kill it off for sure. (Hope not!)
hope elementary is around for a long time.one of our favorites
Elementary is a great series. do not want another good one cancelled like seems to happen a lot
Please don’t cancel this show it is one of our favorites!!
Love this show with the clever script. Love the fact each episode is not continuous — yet very suspenseful. Keep the shows coming!!!
I’m completely hooked. Probably the only TV show I watch regularly. At first I was taken aback at the casting of Lucy Liu as Watson, but it didn’t take long for me to really warm up to this unique twist. Now I actively look forward to seeing Lucy Liu in action. Watching the straitlaced Watson learn to heist exotic cars as Holmes apprentice has got to be one of the greatest OMG moments ever. The chemistry and acting of the main cast is wonderful. The key to enjoying it is to not bring any pre-conceived baggage from the BBC Sherlock… Read more »
A brilliant and elegant show with a consistently clever script. One of the few weeklies worth watching on TV. A big shout-out for locations and set design as well; truly does seem like NYC, whether it is or not. JLMiller impeccable in every way..as for Lucy Lu, serious intelligence and beauty in one seamlessly graceful package. LL is so right on as Joan, my suspicion is she wears her own clothes–true NYC understated style–simply because they are an absolute fit with her character.
CBS: you have a winner here! Do not let it go!
