This TV series gives a new take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle characters. It’s a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases.
Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare — a sober companion, Doctor Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). She was a successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago.
Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he’s devised his own post-rehab regimen — resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City.
Watson finds she has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. In the end, Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator.
Sherlock’s police contact is Captain Tobias “Toby” Gregson (Aidan Quinn). He knows, from previously working with Scotland Yard, that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team.

Amidst Holmes and Watson’s battle with tech billionaire Odin Reichenbach, the investigators receive word of their old enemy and Sherlock’s former love, Jamie Moriarty.

Ending??? COME ON! How can they do that? THe quirky, genius, SherlockHolmes, ingeniously cast and played by Johnny Lee Miller, the modern version of Watson, who couldn’t have been anyone BUT Lucy Liu, the superb supporting cast, Aidan Quinn (Capt. Gregson), Jon Michael Hill (Marcus Bell), Jon Noble (Morland Holmes, LOVE HIM in this part), the great writing and lighting (the brownstone….superb lighting!), the storylines, ………. everything! it needs to be renewed for at least another season if not more… it is one of the few shows that are actually good. the writing and the actors and actresses play their part awesome

Please renew!! Well written…excellent story lines, very good actors that inhabit their characters extremely well. There is so much pablum, infantile junk on television that it is a joy to be able to watch a program (like Elementary) that is geared for adults and adult-thinking. RENEW!!!

Think it would be great if Elementary could continue or come back as 2hr tv movies al la Perry Mason & Diagnosis Murder did.
The latter would allow the cast to do other work while pleasing loyal fan.
The show has not gotten stale. The writing is excellent as are the cast. I look so forward to each episode.
