TV show description:
This musical drama series revolves around a family that’s at the center of a hip hop music empire.
A former drug dealer, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is the CEO of Empire Entertainment, a hugely successful music company. His life is turned upside down when he learns that he has ALS and must now choose one of his three sons as his successor.
Eldest son Andre (Trai Bryers) is Wharton-educated, power-hungry, and married to manipulative Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday).
Middle child Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is a talented gay singer-songwriter who’s long been seen as the black sheep of the family and despises the corporate side of the music industry.
Fame-obsessed Hakeem (Bryshere Gray, aka Yazz The Greatest) is a fame-obsessed rising hip hop artist, the baby of the clan, and his father’s favorite.
Complicating matters is the boys’ mother and Lucious’ ex-wife, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), who emerges from prison to claim her share of the empire. She helped build the company with Lucious and then took the fall for running drugs that helped finance his early career.
Other characters include Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey), head of Empire Entertainment A&R and Lucious’ love interest; Vernon Turner (Malik Yoba), Lucious’ longtime friend and business partner; and Becky Williams (Gabourey Sidibe), Lucious’ executive assistant.
Episode #102 — Home Is on the Way
In the midst of the Bossyfest launch and the fight to regain control of Empire, Cookie reflects on her life and the woman she has become. Lucious finds it impossible to deny his feelings for Cookie while continuing to support Yana (guest Kiandra Richardson) and her rise to stardom. When the Lyons face their biggest threat yet, Lucious prepares for the battle of his life and realizes that in the end, family is what matters the most.
First aired: April 21, 2020.
What do you think? Do you like the Empire TV show? Do you think it should have ended? Would you have renewed it for a seventh season?
Empire is a great show and already deserves to have another season at the very least. The writers, producers and cast have gotten America’s attention in a unique way of capturing the business of entertainment using greed, manipulation, money and the almighty power that the industry already has, but sometimes is often taboo to talk about. The talent that the artist have on this series is amazing, breathtaking and empowering. I’m looking forward enjoying many seasons to come.
This show is ******* awesome i love it. Hell no dont cancel it keep them episodes coming full throttle. I dont watch scandel etc. I only have three favorite shows empire supernatural and red band society. This show is not gay bashing i use to be a stud myself. I see this show as really showing how most black men would react to finding out that there son is gay. **** i am a women and lwrs just say when i came out to my parents there werent any violins playing niether. Do not cancel this show! Great show. A second chance is reasonable!!
I’ve only seen one episode, and although I enjoy Scandal, Nashville and other well done evening soap operas, this perspective makes me sick to my stomach. This is crap, complete crap to me.
I love this show Cookie and Lucious are great characters and idk why so many ppl hate to see the truth about things and this show just explain it all!! FIVE STARS!!!
Love the show, please don’t cancel!!
Love the show, Cookie do your thing.
Love it!
I have watched the first two episodes of the show. Although I have not rally around the show. I feel that the show like most show needs the time to get moving and make a good showing or a poor one.
Two episodes cannot make that point. Therefore let the show stay on the air and see what happens.
i agree with the show.please dont cancelled it.
I watched it, loved it because it brought back realism. I think the show should continue to run. Please don’t touch the writing, it’s so real to life. Just because a show deals with the truth and ways of life doesn’t mean that it should be cancelled.
I just watched two episodes and I am already hooked. I started watching because Terrence Howard is in it. He did not disappoint. All the cast is fabulous. Don’t cancel this show. It is going to be a huge hit.
Leave it running…..just facts as they were, no one is taking it to heart as a bashing….Look, they have “Will and Grace”, Two and a Half Men, Odd Couple…FCC didn’t care about these shows…..IJS
I couldn’t agree more since I am a gay man I don’t see it as bashing either I just see a father who can’t accept his son is gay but to be honest I think most men would find it hard to accept and wonder if they did or didn’t do something wrong that made their son gay but I am here to say when I was just 7 I remember finding older men very attractive and that had nothing to do with my dad or mom that’s just a fact . But as for his sonI think he will… Read more »
I do not think it should be canceled, I think that it is not gay bashing it’s suppose to be the life of someone trying to come out. Things happen to people like this and it’s life. The mother is clearly trying to help her son. Who knows let the show play out he might end up welcoming his life!!!
I just happened to be watching American idol and empire followed it last week and I fell in love with it automatically ! Can’t wait until next week…
