FOX is trying something different with The Exorcist. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is staging real exorcisms to promote the upcoming series.
Based on the 1973 horror film, the drama stars Geena Davis, Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Hannah Kasulka, and Brianne Howey.
In conjunction with Escape Hotel Hollywood, FOX is creating an “immersive escape room experience inspired by the upcoming series that will feature earthquake simulations and, yes, real exorcisms.” The escape room will feature six sections—”the church, the priest’s office, the attic, the room of a mysterious and religious woman, the room of a possessed boy as well as a secret room where individuals will be able to take themed photos before moving on to the next part of the game”—in addition to creepy sound effects, puzzles, gadgets, and an exorcism at the end of its 45-minute runtime.
The escape room opens on September 23rd, the same day The Exorcist debuts on FOX.
What do you think? Are you planning on watching The Exorcist? Will you check out the escape room?
