What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, First Dates comes from executive producers Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman. Drew Barrymore narrates the dating reality TV series, which is based on the UK program of the same name. First Dates takes place in a Chicago restaurant, with restaurateur Sandro Coppola serving as Maitre d’. The action centers on different couples who have just met, as they go out on their first dates. The participants — from all over the US — are of various ages and backgrounds. At the end of each hour, the audience learns whether the daters plan to see one another again.

First Dates premiered with low ratings and the numbers haven’t gotten any better. However, they have remained pretty consistent. In the current market, I think that may be enough to get First Dates a second chance.

Please renew First Dates! It’s such a sweet show that provides a snap shot of all ages, sexual preference, and life experiences. Our family looks forward to watching it on Friday nights and we’re missing it.

I really want this show to come back. There hasn’t been a good Friday show on for some time. Great voyeuristic indulgence. Bring it back please. I’m already sad there aren’t any more shows this season. Another Ellen Degeneres hit!!
I loved this show. I found myself getting genuinely invested in the dates and the individuals on them.
I absolutely love this show and will be so disappointed if it is cancelled. It’s the only “real” (not scripted for ratings boost) dating show.
Honestly, I enjoyed the show but after a terrific first episode it never reached the same level again. This is an American version of a show that has been produced all over the planet and I feel like this version didn’t take the same risks as some other versions. At least it didn’t devolve into Celebrity First Dates like it has in other markets.
All in all a good show and definitely deserving of another season.
