What’s This TV Show About?
A psychological thriller streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, Fortitude stars Richard Dormer, Sofie Gråbøl, Sienna Guillory, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Mia Jexen, Alexandra Moen, Luke Treadaway, Dennis Quaid, Michelle Fairley, Edvin Endre, and Ken Stott. This TV series takes place in Fortitude, an international community in the Arctic, with inhabitants from many parts of the world. A gruesome murder and a dangerous pathogen are threatening the future of the town itself. In season two, a new body is discovered. Now, Eric (Haraldsson) must step up and lead this horrific investigation. Meanwhile, fisherman Michael Lennox (Quaid) is struggling to come to terms with his terminally ill wife and will do anything for a cure.
As of March 9, 2025, Amazon has not cancelled or renewed Fortitude for season three, but on January 25, 2018, Sky Atlantic announced a third and final season renewal. Will Amazon do the same? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless Amazon releases streaming “ratings,” it is difficult to measure the success or failure of streaming TV shows like Fortitude. Critical acclaim and buzz is also important to services that rely on keeping viewers subscribed. In the US, Fortitude originally ran on the now defunct cable channel, Pivot. The series, however is a British production that airs on Sky Atlantic and Canada’s Super Channel, which defrays the cost for Amazon. This series is very timely, and depicts one very likely way that humankind may come to an end. Season 1 was great but Season 2 was better, and I hope they do many more, but that will be up to whether the writers can craft a believable story, since I think most people are unaware of the reality of the underlying premise (mind-controlling parasites). I have recently been fascinated by what I’ve read on toxoplasma gondii and other parasites that can cross the blood-brain barrier and how we’ve seen it control the behavior of animals. Love this show. Just watched last episode of season 2 and already suffering withdrawal. RENEW FOR MANY SEASONS.
Fortitude os by far one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. The location and cinemaphotography are fabulous, the casting and acting are supurb. Bravo! What a great show. Please bring season three to Amazon.

I just finished Season 2 and would be really disappointed to not see Season 3 added. I really loved this show as it’s unlike any other. All of the big names just fit in alongside everyone else so naturally without stealing the scenes. Please bring it back Amazon!!
Fortitude is a brilliant show and my wife and I want to see it go on. Great acting. We miss Sofie Grabol.
Season one was excellent, intriging, compelling while remaining beluevable..thus ,held my interest.
Season 2 stunk… They seemed to just want to get wierd,,,then one up themselves… Hung with it through the end but was very disappointed!
If 3 comes back and goes the route of 2,,, I will pass!

Of course it should be renewed!!!! The setting becomes a character unto itself. It has everything to do with the actions of the residents of the town. The fact that characters come and go in a place like this is realistic. It makes you wonder how each of the characters came to be there.
