Eddie Huang may not be crazy about Fresh Off the Boat but ABC is happy to have it on their schedule. The network has renewed the new sitcom for a second season.
Based on a memoir by Huang, Fresh Off the Boat revolves around a Taiwanese family that moves from Chinatown in Washington, DC to Orlando, Florida. They open a steak restaurant and experience serious culture shock while pursuing the American Dream. The family members are played by Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler, and Ian Chen.
The sitcom has performed well for ABC on Tuesday nights, giving the network a foothold in what’s been a challenging night for them. It’s also been one of the current season’s most diverse shows. The first season ended up averaging a 1.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.75 million viewers.
What do you think? Do you like the Fresh Off the Boat TV series? Do you have a favorite character?
Really nice show. Feels refreshing to look at this family.
Love, love, love this show!! I grew up in the 90s so the music is an A+. All these characters are new to TV and are relevant, super glad it got picked up for a second season. It’s also nice to watch something that is so hilariously funny but is appropriate for all audiences!
Love this show, nothing makes me laugh like it does. Keep it on pls.
This show is the best abc has. It is great! Need funny shows that have a real family like this one not the weirdo crap that goes on todays day and age
Love the show! Hope it lasts a long time.
My God…. I can’t believe how much time people have on their hands to complain. wypn and R….you guys need to relax a little bit. I have watched every episode of this show and think it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It might have something to do with the fact that I interact with a group of people fairly similar to this family….but it is pretty spot on. At the least, this is a family pursuing the American Dream….How many shows can you say show a family with a good work ethic, a good family… Read more »
Thank goodness! Fresh Off The Boat is hilarious!! I could understand why a lot of people might not quite ‘get it’, but you don’t have to be Taiwanese, or even Asian, to relate. Maybe the show is of particular meaning to me — having grown up Filipino in a similar demographic area as the Huangs — but I think if you grew up first generation US-born in a family of any kind of foreign culture, especially during the 90s, you can definitely relate to the family’s antics. The first season had its ups and downs, but left off on a… Read more »
Im chinese and grew up in canada. I love love love these characters. It’s spot on to asian culture in an American setting. I guess youd have to be able to relate! Was hoping it would keep going! Yay!
this show is painful to watch, must be good for the 7-10 year old age group the network seems to be targeting with this crap!
thank you i love this show,it is so funny and has a great cast.
Happy to hear about the news even though I’m Asian American.
The show sucks. Watched it once and that was enough
I agree with wypn. This show is real crap. Get it off the schedule or risk losing a lot of viewers with brains. And you canceled FOREVER? And THE TASTE?
This station wouldn’t know a decent show if it was presented by alllll the intelligent viewers that they lost because they keep the junk that doesn’t even deserve to be on ANY channel.
Except for THE MIDDLE, there is NOTHING on ABC worth my time!
I like this show very much keep it going!
Come on!!!!!!!!!!!! ABC cancels Christela and keeps this **** of a show!!!!!!!!It is a fill in show at best. I’d give it a solid D rating and that’s only for the girl next door.
