As has become the norm, ABC didn’t announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but the show wasn’t cancelled either. They just kept it on the air. The network did cancel The Chew (which replaced All My Children in 2011) so they could expand the Good Morning America brand with GMA Day. Clearly, the ABC execs aren’t afraid to shake up the status quo again. Will General Hospital survive to see a 57th season for the 2019-20 broadcast season? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.
Debuting on April 1st of 1963, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. What do you think? Do you still like General Hospital TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for additional seasons?
Please keep it on. It’s the only thing I watch during the day. Love General Hospital!!!
Please keep General Hospital on the air. I used to watch it many years ago and have gotten back into it. The only soap opera I watch.
Keep it on!
I’m a big General Hospital Fan !! I’ve been watching it on and off since I was 6 years old!! I stopped watching it for a little while, then I started to watch it again when Luke and Laura ‘s Wedding! What a beautiful Wedding! I’ve been watching it ever since.I wish that they would get rid of Ryan Chamberlains character story line to end it once and for all!! I would Love to see Both Jason and Sam remarried!! For Dante to come home to Lu Lu, even if it is a different actor who will play Dante. Bring… Read more »
Please do not cancel. I have been a fan for years great show. Killing off Kiki and Oscar was to sad and Dawn of Day needs to go. Why not bring back Brenda up ratings if you do.
ABC itself sabotages GH more than anybody. For those who can watch it during the day in “real time” there are too many “news” interruptions, most of them for completely useless reasons. (The orange imbecile having a temper tantrum is NOT news!) Of course most people can’t watch during the daytime, and frankly who would want to? This supposedly “hour” long program now has about 35 minutes of actual content and the rest is commercials. But if you want to watch at a more convenient time, you’re completely screwed if you aren’t a cable subscriber. Both ABC’s own website &… Read more »
I am a convert to GH from The Young and the Restless. Been watching a couple of months now, this show is head and shoulders better than that bore.
Please do not cancel GH. I have been watching for decades! I dvr it to make sure I never miss an episode. Killing off main characters like Oscar and Kiki is a mistake however. It makes the show too depressing and people get very attached to the characters. I do think the writing is good for the most part. Soaps are an institution in daytime tv. Talks shows are no replacement. Soaps have the most loyal fans and would be extremely sad to end GH.
I have loved General Hospital since I started watching it as a teenager with my mother. PLEASE, PLEASE CONTINUE IT FOREVER! PLEASE LEAVE OUR SOAP OPERAS ALONE! THEY HELP ME GET OUT OF REALITY AND DESTRESS! I DON’T NEED ANTI DEPRESSANTS AS LONG AS I CAN ENJOY MY SOAP OPERAS EVERY DAY!
I watched GH from the late 70’s to the year 2015. After seeing one episode, I couldn’t believe how much different things were – the sets are terrible – not at all realistic like they were even a few years ago – story lines that are so unbelievable that I would never recommend this show to anyone. It’s not the same. Yeah, in the past characters were brought back from “the dead”, but, it just isn’t to me General Hospital. I wish the show good luck and if you are a fan, please keep watching just to keep it on… Read more »
GH… like everything else, has changed with the times. People have grown older… so no matter how much you want it to be like in the past it can’t be. It would be ridiculous to try.
Vickie in New Orleans: Please don’t cancel, first thing I do when I get home from work is turn on the television and watch what I recorded, love, love, love the show, have been watching the show since the 80’s – there are too many talk shows on anyway, we need a few good soaps
PLEEEEEEEEASE DON’T CANCEL GH. IVE WATCHED SINCE I WAS 3 WITH MY MOM AND IM ALMOST 50. IT’S JUST WRONG TO DO PEOPLE THAT WAY WHEN THIER SO LOYAL AND ADDICTED LOL . DONT DO US LIKE YOU DID WITH AMC & OLTL!!!! WE WOULD HAVE NOTHING LEFT. KEEP GH PLEASE
I like the show but it seems to drag things out to much get on with something more than the same stuff
I feel new watchers are influencing the rating. Please for God sake don’t cancel GH. It’s a part of my life and have faithfully watched it since 1969. It’s as good as it’s ever been. I will do anything to keep this program on. Please let us know what we can do to help.
I agree with you Carol. I’ve been watching since the 70’s… I may not love every story but I love my show no matter what! New viewers come and if they don’t like a story they’re all over Twitter crying like babies. I’ve even seen some people make threats they get so nuts. I just want my show to stay on.
If ABC cancels GH, vierwers will have a digital revolution. Those 2.5 million viewers a day are some of the most loyal, vocal tv fans in existence. I will boycott the entire network and start a campaign myself if i have to. Scripted drama with talented actors, the closest thing there is to live theater on television, is a genre that must be preserved. If the networks worked together, NBC should air Days of Our Lives at 2PM, and ABC should move GH (if they haven’t already) to 3PM. Soaps shouod not compete against each other, but help each other… Read more »
