As has become the norm, ABC didn’t announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but the show wasn’t cancelled either. They just kept it on the air. Will General Hospital survive to see a 58th season for the 2020-21 broadcast season? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.
Debuting on April 1st of 1963, General Hospital revolves around the loves, lives, and deaths of the people of Port Charles, New York. The current season’s cast includes Maurice Benard, Tamara Braun, Steve Burton, William deVry, Chad Duell, Michael Easton, Genie Francis, Max Gail, Nancy Lee Grahn, Briana Nicole Henry, Rebecca Herbst, Roger Howarth, Finola Hughes, William Lipton, Katelyn MacMullen, Sofia Mattsson, Eden McCoy, Kelly Monaco, Wes Ramsey, Emme Rylan, Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard, Donnell Turner, Maura West, and Laura Wright.

Note: The ratings for the week of January 27th aren’t included because there were major preemptions due to the impeachment trial.
Note: ABC ran out of original episodes with week 35 due to the COVID-19 production shutdown. New episodes resumed with week 46.
For comparisons: The 2018-19 season of General Hospital averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.30 million total viewers.

I have a fan since 1971. That makes me pretty old. I have enjoyed it ,and recorded it since I could afford a VCR. The characters have come and gone ,and came back and died in real life. It’s been pleasure. I can only hope they will return with new episode soon. Thank you for taking me away from life’s problems for an hour 5 days a week,when It was necessary.
Please bring General hospital back after the pandemic is over!

Please bring the show back. My entire routine revolves around watching general hospital. Why cant they make new ones now? We have opened the country again so arent they allowed to go back to work? Well. I hope they do!!!!
You’re So right. Yes they have opened the Country AGAIN. But maybe you’re NOT AWARE of the New Statistics. The Numbers are higher now than in April. Everyone is trying to go back to work but STILL Practice State Guidelines. Remember they were Shooting in NY. You know Covid-19 Ground Zero? Maybe you have a solution you could Submit to ABC for shooting 6′ & required Masks During a Live Taping. People have no idea to the Severity of Masks, Gloves, Social Distancing, & SELF QUARANTINE until they become infected or infect a Love One.
GH is filmed in California not NY. All my children and OLTL were filmed in NY before moving Production to California only to be cancelled a few years later.
After all of these years, bring GH back after the covid.
I would be heartbroken if GH was cancelled. My husband and I watch 5 days per week. We love the show! Keep it on air!!!!
I don’t think it’s fair to cancel, the impeachment and the covid 19 has taken away episodes. Every day at 2pm GH is interrupted . The impeachment and covid 19 are important ,but there were other programs that could have been interrupted. GH IS THE BEST SOAP , ot should be continued if covid 19 is to continue, then use other programs ,like the view, Tama Hall, Kelly Rippa, al those talk shows. Share the interruption. Start back with day one that GH stared and go straight through until the original can start back.
General Hospital needs to continue I want to see what happens w Michael’s Baby and I would really like it to continue for the 58th year a lot of fans would be very disappointed if abc took it off.
Please dont take GH from me, I’m so lost without it! And keep it on TV and on Roku!!!
