TV show description:
This dramatic series follows the fast rise (from age 26 to 34) of an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City — and the high personal and professional cost he pays to achieve it.
As Walter William Clark Jr. (Theo James) is interviewed for a story about his career, he looks back on his hard-fought journey from street kid to the most powerful man in law enforcement.
After only three years as a beat cop, Clark’s heroics on the job make him bold enough to ask for and receive the unheard-of promotion to homicide detective, angering the members of his new department who are eager to see him fail.
Clark is partnered with and mentored by experienced veteran Detective Don Owen (Chi McBride), a man just two years shy of retirement.
He would rather team with First Grade Detective Christian Arroyo (Kevin Alejandro), the alpha dog in the squad who’s just as ambitious as Clark — but without a moral center. Arroyo’s partner is Detective Deborah McKenzie (Bonnie Somerville), a tough third-generation cop and the only female detective in the unit.
Also on the team is Detective Joe Diaco (Holt McCallany), a well-connected officer with tremendous resources (which Clark might find useful). Though laser-focused on moving up the ladder, Clark’s soft spot is serving as the sole caregiver and supporter of his sister, Agnes (Stella Maeve) — a teenager demonstrating increasingly dangerous behavior.
Keenly observant and politically savvy, “Golden Boy” Clark bases his career decisions solely on his need to succeed as quickly as possible, and he’ll find that his epic journey will be filled with consequences.
Episode #13 — Next Question
Limited by his suspension and relegated to desk duty, Clark delves into Owen’s cold case in which the murder investigation of a construction worker, Jozef Dworaczyk, was compromised by the events of 9/11 happening simultaneously. Andrew Lightstone, Owen’s partner and mentor, was with him on the case and was called up to the North Towers leaving Owen to work the case on his own. That was the last time Owen saw Lightstone.
Clark notes the lack of shell casings and no reports of shots fired to speculate that a contract hit man could have been used. He and Owen confront the drug dealer whose crack house served as the crime scene about the similar way in which his rivals were killed, and the dealer reveals the name of the hit man he suspects had targeted him but mistook Dworaczyk for him instead.
When they track down the hit man, Owen coerces him to confess to fifteen murders including Dworaczyk’s and is rewarded with a promotion. Clark is perturbed when he discovers that three men were wrongly imprisoned for three of those murders and Commissioner Dowdell tells him to disregard his findings.
Lorraine kicks Arroyo out of the house after she discovers that he’s been cheating on her. Meanwhile, Clark’s father persuades Agnes to drive away with him and a volatile Deputy Mayor Holbrook confronts Clark and Margot with a gun.

What do you think? Do you like the Golden Boy TV series? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled and there won’t be a second season?
How could you cancel what was a good show just starting to hit it’s stride? It was building character story lines and fleshing out the cast personalities. It’s a definite shame CBS did not see fit to give this fine show a chance to build a stronger following. What a waste of a great cast. AND still you keep shows like ” Two and a Half Men” and “Two Broke Girls” on air. A mind-numbing hour if there ever was one.
CBS, please rethink the cancellation of ” Golden Boy”.
Can’t believe Golden Boy has been cancelled, one of the best shows on in awhile and didn’t even finish the story line- you should remove some of the stupid sit-coms that are on they are not funny just stupid.
Bad decision CBS this show was a great show I loved watching it. Get rid of some of these other dumb shows you have. Listen to your viewers and what they want
Golden Boy was a great show! Please bring it back & get rid of some of the trashy talking fluff shows that you have too many of. Give us a choice of decent programs like this one.
If it’s a good show, cancel it! That seems to be the norm. I’m so sorry this series has been cancelled. Remember “All in the Family”? Nobody was watching. They kept it on anyway and it turned out to be one of the most popular shows of all time. NCIS? I watched it faithfully for six years and all of a sudden the public “discovered” it. NBC, CBS, and ABC might try leaving some of these really good shows on long enough to be “discovered”. Golden Boy was not on long enough!
If you continue to cancel the shows without given us conclusion I think one of this day we the people are going to stop washing the new ones, it really makes me sad because bad tv shows doesn’ get the cuts!!!!!!!!!! or sure I said stupid programs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on! How could you cancel one of the best shows on TV? The series was awesome. It was an excellent show. I am very disappointed in CBS and am also shocked that they made such a bad call. If CBS does not want to produce it then please sell the rights to another network like NBC / Universal or FOX or ABC who could make it equally exciting. Very BAD decision CBS.
Please bring back the Golden Boy my son and I would watch this show every week we loved the show and the story. I waited for this show to come back on this show was excellent. My son 19 year old son even loved this show.
My wife and I really will miss the series. It had a great cast, especially Chi McBride and Theo James. It was a very good storyline. McBride is being wasted on Hawaii 50.
I am so sad that this show was cancelled! It was one of the best episodes I have ever seen on the 9/11 tragedy. Please bring it back. It was a good show.
Please bring back Golden Boy. It was a good show with interesting characters and a plot that left me waiting for the next week to see what would happen next. I also liked that this show had a moral compass and that right is right and wrong is wrong and there are consequences for the choices we make. Most TV shows lack this… I am sick to death of all the shallow reality shows that have glutted the TV line-up. bring back Golden boy!
Loved watching Golden Boy. Please bring it back. It was a good show.
Loved this show!
Unforgettable was cancelled and brought back.
So bring back Golden Boy, puleeeease.
Please bring back this show
Totally bummed if this does not continue – an excellent show – another sign that TV does not follow good shows…..
