What’s next for The Good Place? Recently, creator Michael Schur spoke with Entertainment Weekly about plans for a possible second season of the NBC TV series.
The comedy stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, an ordinary woman who mistakenly ends up in the good place after she dies. The cast also includes Ted Danson, D’Arcy Carden, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and William Jackson Harper.
In the interview, Schur teased season two (note: NBC has not yet officially renewed The Good Place for a second season, though it seems likely):
I will say that by the end of the final episode, you hopefully will be very excited to see what season 2 is. Because you’ll get the sense that season 2 will be very different from season 1.”
And as for the season one finale, which airs tonight, January 19th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT? Schur said the characters visit the “unusual” Medium Place,” a kind of purgatory:
It’s extremely unusual, and what I mean by that is that it’s not like the neighborhood in the Good Place. This was like a once-in-a-lifetime situation — or once-in-a-thousand years or whatever you want to call it — so it’s a neighborhood of one.”
What do you think? Do you watch The Good Place? Do you want a second season?
My family and I really like this show! We all find it so funny! We were bummed to find out that there were no more episodes this season. We can’t wait for Season 2!
I really do hope that NBC sticks with this show for another season. I loved S1 and am looking forward to S2 very much. I know the ratings having been high, but I’m going to try to convert all of my friends over the hiatus. The problem with a show like this with such an outlandish concept is that people feel like there’s nowhere to go with the comedy. But in this case…the writers did not disappoint.
