While The Catch was cancelled last week, and the seventh season of Scandal will be its last, Shondaland is still alive and well at the Alphabet Network. ABC has ordered an untitled Grey’s Anatomy spin-off from executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.
The new Grey’s spin-off, which was ordered straight to series follows a team of Seattle firefighters. Stacy McKee is writing the series and will executive produce along with Rhimes and Beers. This marks the second Grey’s Anatomy spin-off for the network. The first — Private Practice — ran for six seasons, before ending in 2013.

ABC Picks Up a New Drama From Shondaland Straight to Series
ABC PICKS UP A NEW DRAMA FROM SHONDALAND STRAIGHT TO SERIES
Highly Anticipated ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spin-Off
At today’s ABC Television Network upfront presentation, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey announced that the network has picked up a new drama straight to series from Shondaland.
Set in a Seattle firehouse, the latest series from the executive producers of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away with Murder” follows a group of heroic firefighters. From the captain to the newest recruit, we follow these brave men and women as they risk their lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock.
“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and ‘Grey’s’ signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spin-off,” said Dungey.
Stacy McKee will write the script for the project and executive produce the series. Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,”“How to Get Away with Murder”) and Betsy Beers (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “How to Get Away with Murder”) are executive producers. The series will be produced by ABC Studios.
What do you think? How do you like the sound of this Grey’s Anatomy spin-off series? What would you title it? Let us know, below.
Call it “Smoked” and I’d cast Nicole Beharie in a lead role.
Bring back Tim Allen’s show or we will not watch your network ever again and boycott your major advertisers!!!!
“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, EXCEPT the Chicago Fire FOLKS AT NBC
Seattle Fire wow how original
Never cared for Gray’s or Scandal, but enjoyed the first season of How To Get Away With Murder; so sure, I’ll check it out.
Personally I think The Catch should have been on longer. No reason to cancel yet still had a lot of life left.
I agree. One of the best shows on tv.
I agree!!! This last week or two has been huge disappointment!!! Scandal and the catch were two of my fav shows.
Count me in. I will be waiting for the new series to start.
will definitely watch.
Another fire fighting show? How many does that make now. Between police, doctor and fire fighting it seems that TV’s creative juices flow like molasses.
I think they are trying to copy Chicago Fire. Which is a really good show 🙂
