The Haunting of Hill House is coming to the small screen. Deadline reports Netflix has ordered a TV show based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel.
The classic horror story follows the strange, paranormal experiences of the inhabitants and guests at the mysterious Hill House. The novel has been adapted for film twice, first in 1963 and in 1999, as The Haunting.
Netflix has already ordered 10 episodes of The Haunting of Hill House. Oculus director Mike Flanagan has been tapped to direct, write, and executive produce the series. Amblin TV and Paramount TV are producing.
What do you think? Have you read The Haunting of Hill House? Will you watch the series?
That could be quite a show. The book and the 1960 film version possess a psychological conflict, several actually, which lies just below the surface. It is our deepest fears, our darkest thoughts, and our very real human flaw. If the tv series can keep that gothic undercurrent, I would expect an exciting and very creepy show!
