It will soon be “case closed” permanently for the Instinct TV show on CBS. The network has cancelled the Sunday night series so there won’t be a third season for Reinart and Needham.
A crime thriller, based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, Instinct stars Alan Cumming, Bojana Novakovic, Daniel Ings, Naveen Andrews, and Sharon Leal. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is lured out of his peaceful retirement as a university professor and author, to help NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) catch a serial killer. Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), lends a hand, along with Lizzie’s C.O., Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal). Season two kicked off with Dylan reinstated as NYPD consultant, where he can both impress and irritate Lizzie. Meanwhile, Dylan’s husband, Andy (Ings), pursues adoption as a way for the couple to finally become parents.
Airing on Sunday nights, the second season of Instinct is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.39 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 50% and 49%, respectively. Instinct is nearly the lowest-rated TV shows of the summer CBS TV shows.
A pair of Instinct episodes will air tomorrow night on CBS and the series finale will run next Sunday, August 25th.
Series creator Michael Rauch revealed the show’s cancellation and Cumming and Novak shared their thoughts.
WELL THIS SUCKS BALLS. But when one door closes another… actually fuck that. This sucks balls. Love to all our fans and the most incredible cast and crew. Thank you all for an incredible two years. @Michael_Rauch @Alancumming @CBSTweet @CBSTVStudios @TVdub https://t.co/80QDAJvbTy

What do you think? Did you enjoy the Instinct TV show on CBS? Would you have watched a third season of this series?
I really enjoy this program. It’s intelligent fun, forward looking, and extremely interesting. I was looking forward to them becoming parents ! The acting is great not over the top and shooting scenes are a minimum. I will surely miss this exceptional series !!!!!!
It was one of the best shows.
This is sad.i love this show.i would have loved a 3rd season.
I will miss Instinct
Only good show on this summer along with Blood and Treasure
I love Instinct! My favorite summer show. Why, why did you cancel?
This is a very relevent and intelligent show. So sad CBS could not give them longer to develop a larger audience. This is groundbreaking and important in today’s world. Please reconsider. The actors/cast are/were all excellent. Sad day for all of us.
Some other network please pick up this relevent and intelligent show.
Instinct was one of the few shows I watched at the time/date it was on, if at all possible. Most of the rest of the shows I watch, I tape & watch when I get around to it. I am actually angry that this great show is being cancelled. Alan Cumming is great, as is the rest of the cast & the plots are very clever.
REALLY!! ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS. NEED TO BRING IT BACK ON OR ANOTHER NETWORK NEEDS TO GRAB IT. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
My hubby and I have been faithful viewers since the first show. There is so much trash on TV. Worthwhile shows worth watching, like Instinct, have an uphill battle from the beginning. It seems that viewers want to be spoon-fed like children and not have to activate their brains to understand certain shows with story lines that require thinking and deductive reasoning. It’s becoming a dumbed-down society.
I loved this series and so sad to see it cancelled. There isn’t much worth watching on TV anymore. I was hoping i would have at least had Instinct to watch. I’m really going to miss it.
Love this show! But it seems if you’re good, you won’t last up against the pathetic ‘reality’ shows
This is a great show-funny, serious, well-written, interesting characters-not everyone is 18-49.
What a great show! What is wrong with CBS?
I seriously don’t think you people know what the viewer like one of my favorite show
My husband and I loved the show. The characters were just getting into the grove. Sorry to see it go.
I agree.
