It looks like Krypton is calling it quits. Deadline reports Syfy has cancelled the TV show after two seasons.
The Superman prequel series enters on Kal-El’s grandfather, Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe). Seg is faced with the starkest of choices. He can either save Krypton, or allow its destruction, in order to protect the fate of his future grandson. The cast also includes Shaun Sipos, Georgina Campbell, Colin Salmon, Ann Ogbomo, Aaron Pierre, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Blake Ritson, and Ian McElhinney.
It’s not that surprising why Syfy has decided to cancel Krypton. Since its debut in 2018, the series has earned fairly low ratings. Season two was no different. Overall, the season averaged a .11 rating in the 18-49 demo and 408,000 viewers.
In addition to cancelling Krypton, Syfy will not be moving forward with the spinoff series Lobo, which was already in development.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Krypton? Would you have watched a third season?
The first season was ambitious but not very believable with all that code of honor and japanese military obediency going over generations. It was also very English accent-wise, i like how everybody ballasts their words so dramatically and with importance, like they were in Eaton or Oxford or on a Shakespeare stage or all together.
That all made fully sense, and was creative in the frame of the kanon.
Season two was too much stalling and the fight against Zod was too much of a 08/15 resistance story.
They did the exactly the same thing with The Legend of The Season 2 cut it off after Season 2 and the Ratings were very Strong but the Television Station have decided to Cut it out and they are doing the same thing with Krypton because I wanted to see Season 3 and was looking forward to seeing it and now I’m Very Pissed off that I won’t be able to to see any of them!!!
Disappointed, it was just starting to get good after a two season start up and getting to know the characters. They should at the “very least” have some sort of a conclusion show showing how baby Jor-el is rescued from Brainiac and the destruction of Krypton. It shows that unless it’s a Marvel comic show, DC gets the wrong end of the stick.
I’m very disappointed, I was looking forward to watching season 3 and thought that someone was finally showing some interest in building up a show for a real Superman comic based movie. I don’t understand how the world’s largest icon super hero cant be justified on television. marvel seems to have no problem with just creating the stories based on the comics that we all grew up reading. Someone someday will need to explain this to me. In any case, I guess there will be no need for future generations to look forward to a good reproduction of a series/movie… Read more »
Sy-Fy is the ABC of cable networks: they give a show one or two seasons and cancel it for the next show that will only get one or two seasons.
I am over it so I will no longer be watching anything new they put out just like have been doing with ABC.
abc sucks done with abc
NO KYPTON SHOULD NOT BE CANCELED. BUT THERE ARE OTHER SHOWS THAT WERE THE NETWORK THAT SHOULDN’T HAVE GOTTEN 2ND SEASONS. THAT GOT THEM ANYWAY’S & THERE RATINGS WERE AS BAD IF NOT WORSE !!!!!!!
Same thing with the Legend of The Seeker cut off after Season 2 and the Ratings were very strong but they didn’t care about what the fans wanted and they just wanted the money from them not what the fans wanted!!!and pissed off too so I do agree with you Charles Tillapaugh!!!!

So bummed. This season was so awesome. I still think they started Season 1 too slowly. The first 3-4 episodes were pretty boring. Im so glad I stuck with it, but Im sure a lot of people didnt, which ruins the word of mouth. So Im sure it didnt grab enough people. Dont writers of shows know that you have got to hit it hard from the start?!!
I personally didn’t care for the series though Lobo was great, wish it wasn’t axed, Krypton on the other hand I could care less about. I have seen a few episodes of both seasons and it didn’t hold my interest.
I’m sad about Krypton, I liked the show. Would like a proper ending to it. Oh well. But I’m glad that they are not doing a Lobo spinoff. I would not have bothered watching it.
Hey, look what I’ve found. https://www.change.org/p/syfy-save-krypton
I’ll sign it, but I have little hope it will succeed.
Can’t they bring it back for the third and final season? Krypton should have Superman from the future making a cameo appearance where he meets his late grandfather, Seg-El on Krypton in the final episode. Will someone please go on to Change.org and make a petition? DC Universe or HBO Max should pick Krypton up for a third season.
Totally agree. IDGAF about comics, never read ’em. This is a great and very unique series that definitely deserves a proper sendoff, not a cliffhanger ending. Bring Krypton back for a third and final season!
THANK GOD…. i watched 4 episodes of the 1st season, and it was boring and stupid as hell, and bringing lobo into the mix was another dumb idea, first bad character, second i guess hes old as dirt then by the time he meets superman? wont be missed at all
At least make a real final episod with the end which suposed to be.
Thanks for the cancellation, SyFy. The only reason I’ve been watching KRYPTON is out of some perverse sense of loyalty to DC Comics. I sat through five rancid seasons of GOTHAM for the same reason. I don’t know why. Meandering, pointless storylines, characters I have no feelings for one way or the other, violence for its own sake, only nominal reaction when I hear the name of a character I was familiar with from the comics (since they never seem to resemble any of the multiple versions of the characters DC themselves have foisted on us), and a sensibility that… Read more »
I agree with you on both Gotham and Krypton. Why Gotham got so many seasons is beyond me.
Because it had style – and a very capable cast with interesting characters – more or less, at least. The last season of Gotham was much too apocalyptical.
It lost the connection to the basic situation of a town that is in the grip of mobsters, corrupt politicians, ruthless tycoons, etc. etc.
So its’s good that it ended there. The writers team seemed already worn out, not knowing anymore where the show should go.
