Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.
What do you think? Do you still watch the Last Man Standing TV series? Are you upset that it’s been cancelled?
Why would you cancel such a great show that has such a huge fan base? Please reconsider and bring it back!!!! My whole family loves this show!!!
Sad day for conservatives that speaks to their common values. I won’t need my DVD next season except for Halmark and AMC channels. I would love to see the Halmark channel to pick it up. They currently play reruns of this shows and other classic conservative like the golden girls and I love Lucy shows
I am going to miss Last Man Standing. It is one of the shows that you can watch with the family! Please bring it back!!!!
This is one of the best sitcoms ever created. I can’t believe they’re ending when no doubt this show could continue on for a long time. Friday night is not the best ranking day for viewership but Last Man Standing always did well for this slot. Please some network pick it up for new shows and not just for syndication!!!
Since you have now cancelled the only show worth watching on ABC, there is no longer any need for me to tune in to the ABC network.
So disappointing to read it’s been cancelled. It’s a great show, fun characters.
I am saddened that the only television show worth watching has been cancelled. I hope ABC reconsiders the decision to cancel the show.
Yes I’m mad. I like last man standing
This is the best family show on the air, one of the very few I watch on ABC. If ABC feels it needs to cancel the show then once again it has given up a show that people watch, record and watch again. So sad that abc feels family show are not worthy, I am sure The middle will be next, then Shark Tank. Guess that will end our watching ABC as violence is NOT what we watch ! So sad that a GOOD show will not be coming back !
Too bad, great show, great cast. ABC has little left that interests me…..
It will be sad to not see one of the funniest shows on tv. Is the network punishing the show because it is not riddled with liberal mind control? We don’t need to watch anything ABC, once this show is over. We will always watch anything Tim Allen.
Bring it back
Why must you cancel nice family funny shows? I am so tired of the murder, sex, fake reality and marital affair crap that you call entertainment! Put the show back on the air!!!!!
I am unhappy with theach seemingly last minute decision to cancel this sitcom. It was well written, produced and I believe to be fair on both sides of the political spectrum. A great example of how different views can coexist with love and all around human respect for each other. What a shame and a sad example of ABC making a poor decision. I hope another network picks it up.
My family always looked forward to watching last man standing every friday night. Now it seems friday night TV stinks. We watch the reruns but it would be nice to see how the show would continue. Very sad to hear it will not be coming back.
