Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

The only reason this show is being cancelled is for political reasons. Shame on you abc. I hope another network picks this show up. It’s a great family show & should not be cancelled.
This has been one of the best shows since MASH in family entertainment.. To have it cancelled due to slightly lower ratings is just wrong. We, the people, are requesting another season. At least!
I seriously doubt it is really because of ratings. Sad day.
So So Frustrated. The last “Great Sit-Com” is going away. I along with several other fans are hoping it will be picked up by another network. Ranked 12th of 25 shows on the current network makes one wonder why it would be cancelled instead of 25 ? 24 ? 23 ?
No more watching any ABC shows! Last Man Standing was my favorite show on TV! ABC …you are run by a bunch of idiots!
We love this show and watch the old shows repeatedly. It is so funny and “clean.” I can’t believe ABC is cancelling it. It’s the only comedy we watch.

We love last man standing, have watched it from the beginning . We told all are friends about the show and they have been watching it also. It’s so funny, he say’s what a lot of would love to say but has it sound funny not to insulting . We don’t know anyone who don’t watch it. It would be a shame to take it off. I am very disappointed that this entertaining, relevant and well done show is being canceled. I have enjoyed watching it every week, and often find myself laughing out loud. Hopefully it will be picked up by another, better run network.
I can’t believe Hollywood would cancel such a great show that not only is funny but also teaches some good life lessons. Just because it leans more to the right in its conservative ways! Give us back Last Man Standing!
NEVER mind ratings were OK for a Friday night. NEVER mind show’s writers created comical stories about family values, politics, opinions on stories provided by their characters. It was NICE to have a GOOD laugh at the end of each week. I am very disappointed it has been canceled. It is nice to see a show that was realistic when it came to family and their opposing opinions. Mainly the fact that they can disagree with each other and still be a loving family. The country need to see this now in these very trying times. Too bad it was most of all entertaining.
This is so typical of you snowflakes in Hollywood, this show wasn’t just a great clean family show but it’s ratings were great too, so explain to me why you felt you needed to cancel it
It is a total loss for ABC to cancel Last Man Standing! We finally have a TV show that has good wholesome fun, some comedy, some family values, and always manages to teach a lesson about something important like values. We need to keep this show on the air for a long time. If ABC doesn’t see the benefit, Fox should! Please keep Last Man Standing on the air!
Please bring back Last man standing!!! That is the only tv show that is family oriented!! I love how this show handles politics as well!!
