Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

My family and I loved this show. It’s really to bad that ABC cancelled this tv show. Hopefully another network will pick it up. ABC has lost us as viewers that’s for sure!!! Full stream ahead last man standing!!!!!!

I’m so sick of TV shows being run by political gain in this country, what happened to free speech, I guess TV show host like, Stephen Colbert can make all the political slander comments he wants as long it not about liberals on the left. Wow I figure we all were human beings in this world and all treated like equals, that is what america stands for. I am so sad to hear the show has been canceled. Tim Allen is one of my favorite actors . He has an amazing way of entertaining us – letting us escape from the stress of the day. Disappointing to hear the show that makes me laugh has been cancelled. Unfortunately, this light hearted, entertaining show is cancelled and so many trash disturbing shows are still running! Love you Tim and staff! Thank you for the laughs. Looking forward to seeing you in your next project.
Too bad for one of the FUNNIEST shows that are current !!! Maybe it would’ve been renewed if the knuckle heads running the network didn’t spend all of their pennies on just one individual (American Idol), maybe the show would still be around !!!
Yes, keep it going! My father loved it when he was alive. My mom still watches it and loves it also. Our whole family thanks its great. Please keep it going we need shows like this.

Yep poor ABC just can’t handle a show that’s not politically suited for them. This was a good, funny, family show as is typical of Tim Allen. But the cool thing is I spend enough time watching 6 years worth on the DVR I don’t have to spend any time at all watching other ABC programming 🙂
Very disappointed in the cancellation of Last Man Standing. Great show on Friday nights!!! I can think of many other shows that should be cancelled.

Very disappointed with the cancellation of Last Man Standing! It is a fantastic show. Funny and current. Plenty of other ABC shows that I would rather see cancelled.
