Will Leverage be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season? TNT hasn’t announced anything about the show’s fate yet but executive producer Dean Devlin says that the season five finale can work as either a season or series finale.
In an open letter on LeverageFans.com, Devlin wrote:
Dear LEVERAGE Fans,
As of the writing of this letter, we still do not know if there will be a season six of our show. Just as we didn’t know when we created the last three episodes which are about to air. Because of this uncertainty, John Rogers and I decided to end this season with the episode we had planned to make to end the series, way back when we shot the pilot. So, the episode that will air on Christmas is, in fact, the series finale we had always envisioned.
This is not to say we would not do a season six should we get the opportunity. Everyone involved with the show, from the cast, the crew, the writers and producers, would like nothing more than to continue telling these stories. But, in case we do not get that opportunity we felt that, creatively, after 77 episodes, we owed it to you, our fans, to end the show properly.
I sincerely hope you watch these last three episodes. They build to our conclusion. And the finale, I believe, is the most powerful episode we’ve ever done.
From all of us who make the show, thank you for watching, supporting and encouraging us. I’ve never experienced a fandom as intense, loyal and wonderful as you all.
Let’s go steal a series finale!
Dean Devlin
Executive Producer/Director LEVERAGE
This season’s ratings are down by about 8% when compared to last year’s — 2.64 million vs 2.88 million. That’s not too bad but the show is likely more expensive to produce than it used to be and TNT’s newer shows have pulled in much better numbers.
Major Crimes averaged 5.18 million, Perception averaged 4.24 million and Dallas brought in an average of 4.42 million. So, while Leverage isn’t doing much worse, it seems likely that TNT is raising its standards of success.
What do you think? Are you okay with Leverage being cancelled or would you like to see it come back for a sixth season?
My husband and I both love Leverage. The characters are great together , Please don’t cancell this show!!
Bring Leverage back! I enjoy this show so much and its characters. It can be very challenging to find a well written show with a cast that is so much fun to watch. I also dvr each episode so I can watch them again anytime. I had thought it was a rumor that the show might be cancelled and really was shocked when my sister gave me the news. Please, PLEASE bring Leverage back for season six! (And feel free to add seasons 7, etc.)
The show is amazing! These times are rough and it is such a blessing to watch a program such as leverage that produces great quality television; one that promotes such goodness and belief in each other. Pay it forward moments rarely exists these days. Let’s continue to see leverage on air and with many seasons to follow
I love Leverage. It is clean, fun and entertaining. I hope it has a season six, seven, and eight. . . .
I can’t believe Leverage was cancelled! They need to bring it back. It is an awesome and entertaining show. It is humorous, serious, exciting, entertaining and all the characters are well developed and fun to watch and learn about their past. Please bring it back TNT, this is one of a few shows that I wait for weekly. Nathan, Sophie, Elliot, Parker and Hardison need to come back!!!
I agree with everything written. I had a feeling that the show may be in trouble when it was moved from Sunday to Tuesday. There are still a lot more stories to be told and I hope TNT will do the right thing and bring it back. We have enough cop and doctor shows, this show is unique because it gives the viewer an opportunity to be a part of the plot, to unravel how the characters were able to pull off their “mission” before it is revealed. We need more shows that gives us, the viewer, a chance to… Read more »
Long time fan. The program had talented people. Good writing. Good Directors. It cost more than most of the other ‘c**p’ that is on t v. I will miss it.
I drag myself out of bed every morning at 4 a.m. except on Wednesdays. I LOVE that day and time. I DVR Leverage Tuesday nights and watch on Wednesday morning. This way I can sit still without interruption and just glue to the screen. My son comes home at 7 a.m. and is glued. This is the ONLY show that affects us this way. PLEASE do not cancel this show!! It’s the only intelligent television left.
I love this complex and entertaining series! So few series make me think, but this one does. In fact, I often have the TV on while I am doing something else, but I very rarely actually sit and watch the show. Leverage is a show that I actually watch! I’d love to see another season!
Such a disappointment for a viewer in Australia. This is one of the best shows on TV and I look forward to it each week. Probably will be replaced by another really awful reality show that one will be now forced to watch as that’s the kind of crap on every channel.
I just discovered this show. I love the characters and how they are played to perfection. There are so many other shows on tv that are tripe. Please renew Leverage.
Leverage is one of the best shows ever.
I can’t believe TNT is considering to cancel it.
I really hope we have a sixth season.
🙁
I’ve been a long time fan. Sadly, if the only measure used by networks is a sampling of viewership, this show is toast.
No doubt, some cheap “reality” schlock will replace it, because the samplers favor the mindless zombie audience.
We are witnessing the death of TV entertainment. The dark ages approach.
I can not believe you are cancelling a show like Leverage. I look forward to watching it every Tuesday night & I believe it is one of the best shows on the air. Instead of keeping shows like this on TV we are subject to these lousy reality shows. What has happen to the networks are you trying to drive people away from watching TV.
Great show & great story lines. The chemistry of the cast make the show riveting.Makes me believe the common people(like myself),actually have a chance in this world.Would be very disappointed with TNT should they discontinue this show.I also believe changing the time of show from 9:00 to10:00,especially during football season was a mistake. That drop in viewership ,during football season,is miniscule.
is there a chance another network will pick it up i hope so i love this show i will miss it
