A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Please keep keep keep…LOVE the show
I love the show. I think the girls in the night club need to go though. Kind of point less to have half naked girls dancing every time they walk in.
My husband and I love the show! It’s witty and we want to see where it goes. Really hope it doesn’t get cancelled.
Show kicks ass
Highly in favour of Lucifer as a KEEPER! The satirical writing, Tom Ellis’ delivery and potential story lines equal renew! 5 million average viewers agree!
Lucifer is a ver interesting concept but I think they may be making the character too complex. I hope they give it at least one mew season to sort it out!
Keep it!
I LOVE THIS SHOW… LUCIFER CRACKS ME UP…Please keep this show and put it on Netflix too
love it
Our family is really enjoying this show and it has been getting better as the series goes on. I hope they renew it for another season.
Cancel please, It’s a muddled, pointless show, badly written and unable to decide if it wants to be a comedy or a dramady or a mild horror, or a thriller, and failing to achieve any semblance of sense.
I can believe I’m saying this but, “Constantine” was way better and made more sense to keep than this.
I’m not replying to put you down. You certainly have a right to your opinion. But, if you think the show stinks, don’t watch it. Why go to a board and ask the station to cancel a show other people enjoy? Not cool.
I enjoy the show. I’m typically not home on Monday nights so I watch the show during the week On Demand. I like Tom Ellis and find the show has enough whimsy to keep me coming back. I am in favor of a renewal.
It is not as good as Rush was with Tom but it is fun. Fox can’t afford to cancel this show.
Keep this show…
Something different ..
At least give it 1 more season..
TOM ELLIS is AWESOME ..
Sick of the scandalous some operas
I agree. It seems that the networks keep wanting to put their money on the soap-opera – rich people stabbing each other in the back dramas. I’m kind of sick of those. They aren’t done well many times. And the characters aren’t that engaging on average. I even stopped watching Scandal after it jumped the shark almost out of the starting gate.
Keep it, keep it, keep it!!! Love Lucifer!
Keep I love this show, It is one of the only shows that I watch besides the black list and supernatural. It takes more then 1 season to develop a show and good following. After being a forever fan, and having that show cancelled. If you cancel this, my question is why watch anything new, if all you are going to do is cancel shows.
