A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Love this show! It’s hilarious!!! Also got some good points about not taking responsibility for our own actions rather than always saying it was the “devil’s fault.”
“Keep this show me and my bro can’t wait for season 2 ANd it’s a great show !!”
Please keep Lucifer. My husband and I live this show. Looking forward to next season.
Please do not cancel this show. I love this show.
I love the show. Can’t get enough of it. Even if the minority watch the show you should continue with it. Unfair if you discriminate against the minority
“Report” not “watch”
I like this series very much – much better than the usual crap out there.
I love the show; truth is, no matter how bad or evil a person we can change. That is what I truly enjoy about Lucifer and his acting is great.
Please keep Lucifer on, this is a great show ! Don’t let these Bronze Age Fairy Tale people sway your decision. I love this show.
They are already filming season 2 for lucifer in Vancouver
Please keep it
Please Keep it
Renew Lucifer for second season. As for the religious aspect, I am Catholic and very religious; but, this is only a show……….for those of us who truly believe in Christ.
I have followed the show religiously (pun intended) from episode 1. I love it, and need more!
Hopefully, all of us will continue to keep the network aware of just how much the show is enjoyed and is totally different than any other show. For the devil, he is a total goofball (in a funny way).
I really liked it. please keep it
Love love love lucifer! If the ‘religious’ people don’t like it, they don’t have to watch it -_- YES KEEP LUCIFER!
Would love to see Lucifer have another season. It is a very good show. Tom Ellis is excellent playing the part of Lucifer…great casting! Just the right amount of humor along with the storyline. Like the premise and the cast of characters play quite well off each other. Quite a twist on the Devil and how he actually is not out to get all souls, but rather justly go after those that do evil towards others. Please keep the show…very fun to watch!
