Poor ratings have claimed another victim. It’s been learned that NBC has cancelled their Midnight, Texas TV show. While there won’t be a third season of the supernatural drama on the peacock network, Universal Television is reportedly shopping the series to other outlets.
Based on the book series of the same name, from True Blood author Charlaine Harris, Midnight, Texas stars François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Jason Lewis, and Peter Mensah. Guest stars in the second season on NBC include Michael Harney, Mindy Sterling, Adam Langdon, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Jaime Murray, and Nick Lee. The supernatural drama unfolds in the remote Texas town of Midnight, a haven for those hiding out from the world. There, only outsiders belong, while normality is just plain weird. The townies come together to form a sort of chosen family. Together they fend off external pressures from nosy police officers, vicious biker gangs, and their own dark pasts.
While Midnight, Texas has some devoted fans, the cancellation hardly comes as a surprise when you look a the ratings. The first season averaged a meager 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.99 million viewers.
Despite the low ratings, NBC renewed the summer series and opted to air the show as part of the regular broadcast season. The network chose to program it on Friday nights, the same evening that NBC once aired their supernatural Grimm series.
The ratings for season two have been much lower and the eight installments have averaged a very low 0.40 demo rating with 2.08 million viewers. Unless Universal is able to find a new home for Midnight, the defacto series finale is set to air on Friday, December 28th.
What do you think? Do you like the Midnight, Texas TV show? Would you watch a third season of this supernatural series?

NBC always cancels the good shows!! Yes I would watch a third season!! Maybe CW would pick it up or even Netflix. Please someone grab it up, Charlene Harris is awesome!!
Gee, what a shock…..first of all NBC did absolutely nothing to really promote the show and secondly, they scheduled it against one of the most popular shows on TV…..duh……I loved this show, 1st season and 2nd season, but I knew it was doomed because of what I just wrote.
I liked it because they were not actually evil. They seem to fight for justice. Figured Patience was not what she seemed. Do not like the sister/brother storyline. Depending on what happens this Friday, I would like to see it continue.
Of course I would watch a 3rd season of this show. This is the only good show NBC has. I hope it goes to Fox or the CW. Someone has to be smart and pick this show up.
With Supernatural maybe being in its last season on CW, this would be a great new show to carry on the Supernatural legacy.
The new Charmed show certainly bites! It would be great to see Midnight Tx in its place.
Come on,producers! A lot of people love Midnight!
I agree one hundred percent with your ideas!!!!!!
Great show but maybe a sun or Monday night show instead of Friday.
This show his Great! Fri. night is where supernatural dramas die! It used be THE place for unusual shows, but times have changed! Would have been great on Sun or Mon. Someone buy this show for another channel!
I loved the show!!! I definitely would continue watching wherever it is picked up!
What is the deal with this whole – demographic – thing. There are other age groups watching these shows that are cancelled at the drop of a hat. This is a great show as was Grimm but it doesn’t fit in their age bracket approval – oh well. I’ll watch it where ever it gets picked up and good bye to NBC. I’m sick of it.
Wow, you know, it’s just one of those shows that never threw out good bait to begin with. It’s a bloody fantastic show: once you actually watch it you’re hooked.
Ps: Barbara, with all due respect, when calling anything mindless and/or stupid may I suggest using single punctuation marks. You know why.
I love Midnight Texas! I hope it’s picked up by another network or even Netflix!!
I love this show and am crushed that NBC canceled this..you have so much trash on your channel and I will watch it on ANY channel that picks this show up..ratings don’t mean CRAP..I waited a year for season 2 and NOW I have NOTHING to look forward to..I said your schedule/broadcasting and news are tailored and slanted to what your management dictates..not what is true or what the hardworking public wants!
I can’t believe they cancelled this show!! Again network television fails miserably. I;m so done with television!
Such a well written and unique show. I agree that NBC didn’t advertise it enough. They cancel this AND Grimm, and yet keep mindless stupid sitcoms on! HUGE mistake!!! WTF???
I think it would be much better on Netflix or Prime!!
I love this show & the Midnighters Family! I’m very disappointed it’s being cancelled. NBC, you’re making a mistake. I agree with a commenter below…better promotion may have gotten many more viewers. I hope another network snaps it up! We, the fans deserve more seasons. Midnight Texas is awesome!
I definitely would continue to watch Midnight Texas. Keep it coming.
