What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, Mindhunter stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallanay, Anna Torv, Hannah Gross, Cotter Smith, Stacey Roca, Joe Tuttle, Alex Morf, Duke Lafoon, Peter Murnik, Sonny Valicenti, Cameron Britton, and Happy Anderson. The crime drama is inspired by the memoir of FBI veteran John Douglas, Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit (written with Mark Olshaker). The series follows ambitious FBI Agent Holden Ford (Groff) and seasoned agent Bill Tench (McCallany). Together, they delve into the minds of convicted serial killers to understand what motivates their evil deeds.
On November 30, 2017, Mindhunter was renewed for a second season which will debut August 16, 2019. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless Netflix decides to publicize its viewership, it is hard to predict if they’ll cancel or renew Mindhunter for season two. Although there has yet to be an official renewal announcement, there are signs that a second season is in the offing. Fincher and composer Jason Hill have discussed plans for season two. The Mindhunters extras casting Facebook page has mentioned season two more than once. So, for now, I’ll make other dinner plans, even as I keep an eye on the trades and update this page with breaking developments. Anyone know when Season two is coming?
Saw this show after the Ted Kazinsky series. Couldn’t have been better timing. Not seeing anything on season two, will anyone out there verify if it’s coming back.

I loved the main character & being hospitalized as an ending leaves viewers wondering how he comes out of this & does he stay with the Behavioral Sciences in the FBI because he did develop an insight of killers to profile & find several not just a theory if you get them found out & convicted. This is at least a meaningful profession with all the cold cases every city & town has on the books. Maybe use Holden’s techniques on the cold cases around the States as a new spin off or continuation of Mindhunters because he’s certainly astute… Read more »
Mind hunter is riveting. I was on the edge of my seat when the last episode of season 1 aired. I can’t wait for season 2. Pure genius and great actors. I loved it, plus I’m learning a lot about criminal behavior and how to protect myself.
Mindhundter was so interesting and tenacious! I can’t wait for season 2! I’m also curious about the strange man in the beginning of each show and who appeared at the end. I have my ideas but will leave it up to other bingers to ponder, as well.
He’s Dennis Rader, the so-called BTK Killer. They’ll also be working on the Atlanta child murders. The show is not being canceled.
