As expected, the Mom TV show has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. The Thursday night sitcom will return as part of the 2017-18 broadcast season.
On the Mom TV show, Christy (Anna Faris) is a single mom in recovery who’s returned to live with her single mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who’s also in recovery. Christy is tested daily as Bonnie tries to make up for all the ways she’s let her daughter down. Christy is further challenged by her relationships with her own kids, Violet (Sadie Calvano) and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), and Roscoe’s dad, a former slacker named Baxter (Matt Jones). To help her stay sober, Christy relies on her support system from AA which includes her sponsor Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), wealthy sponsee Jill (Jaime Pressly), and her emotional friend, Wendy (Beth Hall). Christy tries to remain positive but it always seems like an uphill battle.
The fourth season is currently averaging a 1.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.55 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 14% in the demo and down by 5% in viewership. Compared to other series, that’s a reasonable season-to-season decline.
Mom is CBS’ sixth-highest rated scripted series and will be back for 2017-18.
What do you think? Do you like the Mom TV show on CBS? Are you glad that this series has been renewed for season five?
How many cats are in the show
I love this show a lot of people think of it as just a funny comedy but it does send out messages for those seeking help with an addiction…just my thoughts as I gave this set to a friend and they said it helped them…don’t take it away yet
My ribs hurt so much from laughing I had to laugh more and harder. Just love the show. I do hope that there is a never ending season.
love the show the writers are very good best show I have seen in years keep them coming
Love Mom don’t drop it.
Love MOM. Ready for new shows. Will show still come on TV Land?
After watching commercials for the show, I thought it may be something my wife and I would enjoy. She was very cool to the idea, but did watch a few of the 2017 final episodes. Before the year was over, she was hooked as fully as I have been, and we watch it both as a current series, and the reruns.
I love watching “Mom” and I hope it stays on for quite a while as an alcoholic will always face new trials in their quest to remain sober.
I am thrilled. I think the chemistry between mother & daughter is spot on. The rest of the women also compliment the show. Christie’s ex is very funny
& Bonnie’s boyfriend is hilarious. The blend makes for one hilarious show.
Couldn’t be happier that the show will be returning.
Who could ever imagine a show about alcoholics with such a zany fun dialogs? Pure magic. I can watch the shows on reruns forever. What a gift for the tv crowds. The only thing that hurts is the way Marjorie who had 11 cats is treated. My husband died last year after 14 years of Alzheimer’s. I took care of him by myself. Had it not been for our cat who slept with us I could not have survived. When he died I was devastated. It was our cat sleeping next to me who saved me. No one could have… Read more »
Love Mom….relate on many levels. Script is fantastic … brilliant writers.
Just started watching it on Hulu and love it! I wish it weren’t ending so soon. It seems as though there are so many possible story arcs for more future seasons. The last show I liked this much was How I Met Your Mother.
This is seriously one of the best US sitcoms in a while, didn’t know they cancelled Mike & Molly and am heartbroken, loved them both. But, this show we love across the pond in the UK, keep renewing please.
Thank you for renewing the show Mom I love this show it is my favorite show ever it really helps me emotionally and mentally it just touches me and it gives me hope that someday maybe I would have a relationship with my daughter
I’m beyond excited…. this show is the best, couldn’t have picked two finer women to play mother & daughter…
Keep it going. They end up in some hilarious situations. Would like to know what happened with Christy’s daughter. Great cast. ALL very funny.
We need humour in this world. Keep it going…..
