As expected, the Mom TV show has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. The Thursday night sitcom will return as part of the 2017-18 broadcast season.
On the Mom TV show, Christy (Anna Faris) is a single mom in recovery who’s returned to live with her single mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who’s also in recovery. Christy is tested daily as Bonnie tries to make up for all the ways she’s let her daughter down. Christy is further challenged by her relationships with her own kids, Violet (Sadie Calvano) and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), and Roscoe’s dad, a former slacker named Baxter (Matt Jones). To help her stay sober, Christy relies on her support system from AA which includes her sponsor Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), wealthy sponsee Jill (Jaime Pressly), and her emotional friend, Wendy (Beth Hall). Christy tries to remain positive but it always seems like an uphill battle.
The fourth season is currently averaging a 1.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.55 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 14% in the demo and down by 5% in viewership. Compared to other series, that’s a reasonable season-to-season decline.
Mom is CBS’ sixth-highest rated scripted series and will be back for 2017-18.
What do you think? Do you like the Mom TV show on CBS? Are you glad that this series has been renewed for season five?
I’m excited to see my second favorite show Mom renewed again , however incredibly sad to see 2Broke girls canceled after Mike and Molly. Those were the only 3 shows I loved…….
thank you for renew mom, I enjoy watching it, make me laugh, can relate to the relationship between the daughter @ mother. thank you again
Love this show! Glad it’s renewed.
Great show. Very good writing and becoming better and better.
I’m SO GLAD this show is getting upped for another season. I don’t think there’s another show on TV quite like it. It’s dramedy that’s not high-concept and based in something everyone can relate to. It’s also one of the few shows where I truly care what happens to the characters. The writing and acting is excellent. A wonderful sitcom!
I love this show, not only is it laugh out loud hilarious it’s also incredibly well observed & I find each season as good as the last.
I love this show, its so funny & incredibly well observed. Every season is as good as the last, if anything it gets better.
I am thrilled this series has been renewed. It touches on a very serious issue with humor and quick wit. Very well done sitcom!
I really enjoy this show. Watched every episode. Glad they are renewing for Season 5.
Love this show. Very funny!
This is my fav show on CBS, its much better than Big Bang theory
I love this show…ive seen every episode my fav season 4 episode 12 where they unknowingly eat the pot cookies….its hilarious…So glad it’s been renewed.
I have never liked this show! And, it is time to let it go!!!
i honestly don’t agree with you, and you probably don’t like it because you have never watched it, and because you are going off of what other people have said.
Simple, don’t watch it, I will. Did I also mention I like ‘The Good Place’.. I’m not sure how they do the Nielsons these days, but ‘Mom’ has my vote.
As a male at the upper end of the desired demo, I want you to know that this is my favorite show on TV. The acting is superb but more importantly, this show continually addresses subjects I’ve never seen mentioned on TV, let alone a sitcom. The issues include a spot on Bonnie’s butt which she refused to go to the doctor about as she was terrified to find out if it was skin cancer (it was) and a heroin addict who shows up at AA meetings after getting his clean-for-6-months girlfriend to go back to heroin and she subsequently… Read more »
This was a great show until they brought in the boyfriend. He adds little to the show & isn’t funny in the least. But I love the ladies from the AA meetings.
