TV show description:
This comedy series follows a single mother named Christy (Anna Faris) who is newly sober and decides to restart her life in the Napa Valley in California. Her sobriety is tested by her mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who introduced alcohol and drugs to Christy at an early age and is also in recovery.
Bonnie’s working on repairing their mother-daughter relationship and is all too happy to offer insights into Christy’s mistakes.
Christy’s children are Violet (Sadie Calvano) a sarcastic 16-year-old, and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), an innocent and honest pre-teen. Violet has a sexually-active relationship with a long-haired clueless dude named Luke (Spencer Daniels) and Christy is worried that her daughter will repeat her mistake of dropping out and becoming a teen mother.
To make matters worse, Roscoe’s father, Baxter (Matt Jones), is back in the picture — at least for as long as the red van he lives in isn’t towed away.
Christy gets a job as a waitress at a posh restaurant that’s managed by Gabriel (Nick Corddry). He’s very supportive of her and they share a sexual attraction — unfortunately, he has a snotty wife named Claudia. Rudy (French Stewart) is the establishment’s thoughtless and temperamental head chef.
Christy tries to remain as positive as she can while pursuing her new path in life. Unfortunately, it’s an uphill battle thanks to a very dysfunctional support system.
Episode #170 — My Kinda People and the Big To-Do
Bonnie gains a new outlook on her sobriety after dealing with difficult news. Also, Jill and Andy take a big step in their relationship.
First aired: May 6, 2021.
What do you think? Do you like the Mom TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a ninth season?
I love this show. I grew up in an alcoholic family. I love how positive these characters are given the situations. I wish there was a group for AL ANON like these women for me when I was trying to make sense of a life that sucked.
Very realistic but funny. A lot of families are going thru their problems!!!
MOM IS A GREAT SHOW KEEP IT ON THE AIR.
MY FAV SITCOM…GREAT CAST …LAUGHED SO HARD AT “PROFILE IN COURAGE” WHEN BONNIE HURT HER BACK AND WANTED TO GET HER OWN COFFEE…GREAT PHYSICAL COMEDY BAXTER REAL FUNNY…….I LOVED EPISODES W/LINDA LAVIN…GREAT SHOW…
Please don’t stop the series, my husband and I are hooked on the reruns….recently discovered it. We really laugh, have to stay up all hours to catch it…..but we do!!!!??
Mom is the funniest show on TV. I have recommended it to everyone I know.
I LOVE this show. Very funny! And I like how the characters have evolved over the years of the series. PLEASE keep it going!
More of Baxter and the kids, less of women sitting around complaining. Have loved the show for years but this year it is not nearly as funny and entertaining.
My wife and I LOVE MOM!!! We are both in AA and honestly it is the most realistic show about AA! The things that have happened in every episode in every season makes us feel like someone is spying on our meetings! Yes it’s really funny but in our meetings (at least 7 a week) almost everything that happened on the show and the personalities played by every character ACTUALLY exist in our meetings! The weird thing is some of the characters on the show share the names of people we know in AA and the names match the characters!!… Read more »
I Love Mom. When William Fichtner came on board, it jelled. There’s is a unique comedic ensemble. I like Kristen Johnson, but hers is a different comedic energy. I haven’t enjoyed this season so far. It needs to get back to the great show it was. Kristen should get on a show that works with her comedic skill. There’s almost too many people on the show as it is. Christy, Bonnie, Adam, Marjorie; that’s the core.
Not sure I like the new character but she may turn out to be all right. Love the underlying realism of this show. Allison is one wonderful actress!
Wow. Just saw latest show 11/15/18 and it took a dark turn. Violet (daughter) has a podcast and destroys Christy (her Mom) on it. Brutal. The wrap up of show is simplistic, unemotional and unrealistic. I get the gut feeling someone with the show is trying to sabatoge it. All this season too many changes. Don’t know if I’ll stay with show.
It’s actually really realistic as far as AA is concerned. If you are not in AA this show is VERY real. We love it at our meetings because it is real. Funny things happen all the time and sad things happen too. At the end of the day as long as nothing leads you to a drink but to a meeting instead then it was a great day! If your not in AA but know someone who is or someone who may need to be then please watch This show! It is the closest you’ll get to seeing what it’s… Read more »
We love this show and hope it continues…Its one of our favorites..
YES TO MOM! I HAVEN’T LAUGHED SO MUCH IN YEARS SINCE ALL IN THE FAMILY!
I was just thinking, why not have an episode where the son needs to have his tonsils out?
Keep this show going, it’s getting better and better! We love comedy shows and this is a REAL KEEPER!!!!! Love the new girl on there, that they took in from Jail. She’s hilarious! Would like to see kristi in some sort of real comical situation? Looking after her son in his dad’s wife’s house, well she’s in hospital or something??? Or somehow she gets to “own” the resturant she works in? Or finally become a lawyer? BUT keep it going!!! We LOVE this show.
