TV show description:
This comedy series follows a single mother named Christy (Anna Faris) who is newly sober and decides to restart her life in the Napa Valley in California. Her sobriety is tested by her mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who introduced alcohol and drugs to Christy at an early age and is also in recovery.
Bonnie’s working on repairing their mother-daughter relationship and is all too happy to offer insights into Christy’s mistakes.
Christy’s children are Violet (Sadie Calvano) a sarcastic 16-year-old, and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), an innocent and honest pre-teen. Violet has a sexually-active relationship with a long-haired clueless dude named Luke (Spencer Daniels) and Christy is worried that her daughter will repeat her mistake of dropping out and becoming a teen mother.
To make matters worse, Roscoe’s father, Baxter (Matt Jones), is back in the picture — at least for as long as the red van he lives in isn’t towed away.
Christy gets a job as a waitress at a posh restaurant that’s managed by Gabriel (Nick Corddry). He’s very supportive of her and they share a sexual attraction — unfortunately, he has a snotty wife named Claudia. Rudy (French Stewart) is the establishment’s thoughtless and temperamental head chef.
Christy tries to remain as positive as she can while pursuing her new path in life. Unfortunately, it’s an uphill battle thanks to a very dysfunctional support system.
Episode #170 — My Kinda People and the Big To-Do
Bonnie gains a new outlook on her sobriety after dealing with difficult news. Also, Jill and Andy take a big step in their relationship.
First aired: May 6, 2021.
What do you think? Do you like the Mom TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a ninth season?
bring Anna Faris back! Just not the same….have seen all reruns many times and still love watching! It’s lost some of its punch this season
Mom is perhaps the best show on television. I was weary of how things would stack up and or play out with Anna Farris jumping ship. However, my concerns were ultimately unwarranted because the remaining group of ladies carry the show with such effortlessness that you honestly forget Christy was ever there. Allison Janney’s Bonnie Plunkett is nothing short of GENIUS. She brings Bonnie to life with the comedic force that harkens back to the Queen of Comedy herself Lucille Ball. With Janney/Bonnie as the lead she truly shines brighter than she already did. Too add to her existing comedic… Read more »
Mom…without Christy….is a ying without the yang….everything seems so forced now…Christy – Anna Faris should reconsider coming back….where is the opportunities out there for bigger shows or movies?? With Covid19, Hollywood is getting its comeuppance and opportunities are dwindling…
I love this show either way with Christy or without she was the reason I started watching but Bonnie has it down packed she’s halirious
Love this show, hope it’s on a LONG time!!
Please DO NOT cancel. I love this show. I have even seen all the reruns about 4 or 5 time. It’s great. Please continue the show.
Love the show ! Don’t cancel it ever ! It’s funny and it discusses issues that relate to the journeys of the women playing the roles. The script is well written and very funny.
please do not cancel MOM this show is so funny and close to real life. I love this show.
I love the show mom it couldn’t be any closer to real life I hope it stays on for a very long time.
Love, Love, Love this show. Writing is great, Acting is Superb!!! Please keep going!!!
Both my husband & I have never enjoyed a series so much. It is so true to life and shows us both ends of the spectrum of addictions. The caracters are very diverse and lovable and fun to watch. We will miss the girls and their trying lives
I like the way the characters are being developed…. they change as time goes on. The personal relationships seem pretty genuine to me. It admits that we all have weaknesses whether it’s alcohol or not, so we can all relate.
I think Mom is one of the best shows. It also puts very good messages.I have been in AA for 20 years and the show is true to life.Very Important!
I LOVE THIS CAN’T WAIT FOR SEASON 8
I love this sitcom!!! It’s so real!
Everyone has at least one family member who is either going to AA, or OA, or NA, or ALANON! WOW! Would love to see the “higher power” brought into it a little more.
