Though things were looking good for a second season of CBS’ vampire show, Moonlight has been cancelled. The show has loyal followers, the ratings were decent, and the series often won its timeslot. What happened?
Essentially Moonlight has been cut for a number of reasons. The rest of the network’s schedule is quite strong in the ratings and it certainly makes no sense to cancel one of the stronger series. If Moonlight were on the ratings-challenged CW, it certainly would have been renewed.
Like Jericho last season, Moonlight has a devout but small audience. Unfortunately, CBS’ decision to resurrect Jericho didn’t work out so well for them. Though many campaigned to get Jericho renewed, fewer people tuned in. CBS likely feels a bit burned by that experience and is reluctant to go down that road again.
The cancellation also stems from the fact that CBS is feeling very confident about their new batch of drama pilots. They’ve given a greenlight for four new dramas this fall and there just wasn’t any room left on the schedule for Moonlight. They know that Moonlight’s audience is unlikely to grow very much and would rather take a chance on a new show.
There’s been much upheaval behind-the-scenes and it’s been reported that the network hasn’t been impressed with the show’s creative development. The ratings were also usually lower than both its lead-in (Ghost Whisperer) and lead-out (Numb3rs).
CBS has given the okay for another season of The Unit. With the network’s full schedule, the drama will likely end up being bumped from Tuesdays and end up on Fridays in Moonlight’s old slot.

How can you still not make another season of Moonlight after you have seen all the emails from all the moonlight fans. Do you not care about all their feelings?.
How can you end it with Mick telling Beth he loves her and them kissing.we need to see if Beth loves Mick to. Its the perfect love story unfinished.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We also need to see if Mick’s true indenity is found out.

Moonlight has just started showing in the UK. I was amazed to find out that CBS has cancelled it after one season! What is wrong with these people? The show is well wriiten, and Alex O Loughlin is a great looking vampire! The storylines keep you hooked and I’ve even started watching the repeats which are on the day after each episode is shown. CBS should take notice of the fans and give us a second season. OMG!! Moonlight was awesome. I bought the Season 1 there idiots for not putting it back on the t.v. we wont to see Beth and Mick become more involved and she whats up w/ the list of names that was givin to ol buddy and why Mick’s name was on it.!!! I hope they bring it back on! Trust me hott vampire Mick is deff keeper!!!!!!!
I agree with everyone who loves Moonlight, It is fantastic. I fell in love with it from the very first episode, How can you only have one season of 16 episodes that is just not good enough, I love Moonlight and all the cast. It is the best show ever make nothing can preaure to it. I mean nothing, How can you make lots of seasons of rubish shows and only make one season of Moonlight. Duh, this is so dumb! Why are they getting rid of Moonlight? It’s an AMAZING show!! I LOVE MOONLIGHT! CBS needs to get their heads out of their asses and do something because they are starting to piss a lot of people off!!
I can’t believe what I’m reading right now!!!!How CBS can cancel this program?!?….I began to watch it on the net two days ago and I just can’t stop watching it….How can you possibly broadcast only one season of this show?…it’s impossible…

what the hell! i only just started watching this show and they cancelled it! its being showed here in Australia and everyone loves it!!! when i found out theres no season 2 i was so mad! if CB has any brains at all they will bring it back, i didnt even like CBS before moonlight so bleh!
