Though things were looking good for a second season of CBS’ vampire show, Moonlight has been cancelled. The show has loyal followers, the ratings were decent, and the series often won its timeslot. What happened?
Essentially Moonlight has been cut for a number of reasons. The rest of the network’s schedule is quite strong in the ratings and it certainly makes no sense to cancel one of the stronger series. If Moonlight were on the ratings-challenged CW, it certainly would have been renewed.
Like Jericho last season, Moonlight has a devout but small audience. Unfortunately, CBS’ decision to resurrect Jericho didn’t work out so well for them. Though many campaigned to get Jericho renewed, fewer people tuned in. CBS likely feels a bit burned by that experience and is reluctant to go down that road again.
The cancellation also stems from the fact that CBS is feeling very confident about their new batch of drama pilots. They’ve given a greenlight for four new dramas this fall and there just wasn’t any room left on the schedule for Moonlight. They know that Moonlight’s audience is unlikely to grow very much and would rather take a chance on a new show.
There’s been much upheaval behind-the-scenes and it’s been reported that the network hasn’t been impressed with the show’s creative development. The ratings were also usually lower than both its lead-in (Ghost Whisperer) and lead-out (Numb3rs).
CBS has given the okay for another season of The Unit. With the network’s full schedule, the drama will likely end up being bumped from Tuesdays and end up on Fridays in Moonlight’s old slot.
Moonlight’s series finale is set to air this Friday, May 16th. Stay tuned! 
I watched the series for the first time over the summer and I love the show. Please bring it back the show was great!!!
OMG, I can’t believe that there is only one season of ‘moonlight’!!!!! I’m from Australia and we have just got the show here and I totally LOVE it!! Moonlight is way better than the unit and Jericho. I totally hope that CBS realizes that they made a huge mistake!!

i am a very resent fan of this show, after watching the first three episodes i went straight onto the internet and ordered the first season on DVD i loved it that much.

I Love moonlight you have to bring it back. I’m totaly hooked and I really want to know what is going to happen next. It’s a realy great show, I love vampire shows I’ve seen buffy and angle and I have to say that I much prefur moonlight so please bring it BACK!!
Please bring Moonlight back!!!. There are not enough good vampire shows. Moonlight has very well developed characters, each episode keeps me on the edge of my seat and excited to see what happens next. It is a very beautiful story, love Mick St. John and Joseph.
I am 58 years old and I adored Mick St James character and the Moonlight series. It is the best vampire series I have ever seen, I became addicted to it quickly and would love to see its return. Alex O’Loughlin was perfect, so cute and lovable, please bring him back for all of us baby boomers who love vampire flicks.
please give moonlight another chance, i know jericho didn’t go well but that doesn’t mean that moonlight wont. numbers and the unit don’t stand a chance against moonlightif you ask me and personally, i think that it’s stupid how you just cut it out like that

Are you stubbing or is it that you just don’t bouther reading these emails I know you care alot about the rateings but we don’t what we do care about is Moonlight or you care about is money if you care that much about money you should make an new season because what I think is that people don’t look at every tv channel so their have’nt seen it yet I’m sure if you make one or two more seasons lots of people will notice and show and start to get hocked on Moonlight just like we are that way… Read more »
omg, you have to have a second season of moonlight. you cant leave it like that, its just not fair. who cares about rateings, if there are people out there loving the show than keep it. you have to bring moonlight back its the best by far. numbers is crap, i hate it, its boring. but moonlight rocks. you have to bring it back. moonlight fans need to know what happens next. please oh please bring moonlight back :] we will love you for it.
How can you leave a store hanging without a complete ending. I just cannot believe it, but I do know why. What happen to the days when shows were given a longer life. We have become so money and rating driven, until there is no room for anything else. I will miss Moonlight and I am sadden by your decision.

Angela’s right I love Ghost Whisperer but Moonlight is much much better and numbers is rubish and how long has their series been going on. I have an question for all Moonlight fans. Do you think Moonlight is better than every other show on tv?
and please vote if you think numbers is rubish and should been cancelled because Moonlight is millions times better and it has been cancelled.
Moonlight is way better than ghost whispers and numb3rs. Something’s not right with their decision making.
I just found out about this show and was automatically hooked! i cant believe there wont be a second season! The only reason you dont have good ratings is because i didnt even know about it! Advertise your shows more and you will get better raitings! BRING MOONLIGHT BACK!
