Last season, NCIS was the most-watched show on television with an audience of 19.3 million viewers. Will the ratings drop this season? Will the CBS show ever end? Is it already a lock for season 12? Time will tell.
On NCIS, Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team of special agents continue to investigate crimes that involve the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Cote de Pablo is leaving the show but the rest of the cast — Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, and Brian Dietzen — is sticking around.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/13 update: This show has been renewed for the 2014-15 season by CBS.
Final season averages: 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 18.5 million total viewers.

For comparisons: The 10th season of NCIS averaged a 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 19.29 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the NCIS TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a 12th season?
Mark Harmon and Gary Glasberge have been busy with the casting and writing of NCIS/NO much of this season. Still, shows that have been on as long as NCIS will repeat itself periodically. Even though the original episode was so much better. The Bishop character is a total mistake. I would say Delilah has much more charisma. It does seem that much of the cast dance to Bishops tune. The way Tony is at present I cannot think of a girl that would put up with him. Nor one that assorted fans would except unless they want to lose more… Read more »
I was once a big fan of NCIS but every single episode in this season was boring.
I miss the suspension, a big plot over several episodes. We didn’t even get a big cliffhanger this time! Ok perhaps thats the real work they do at NCIS, solving one case after the other, but for a TV series this is not enough. At the moment I like NCIS:LA better, even I’m not happy how this Deeks/Kensi thing went after her deployment.
Hate to say it but Bishop’s character is not working. Why the frown all the time??? Pay the price and get Pablo back. Also, why becoming so liberal and soft – not what your fan base is about – you know, the fan base that made you number one for 11 seasons!
I absolutely love Ellie Bishop! She is the breath of fresh air the show so desperately needed, and the refreshing change will go a long way toward maintaining my interest in the show. The only thing I DON’T like about NCIS this season is Tony’s over-the-top juvenile antics. I was just starting to like him more last year when it seemed that he had finally started to grow up. And now the way he is acting this year is just grade school. I hope it is just compensation for losing Ziva (whom I do miss a great deal by the… Read more »
The character of “Bishop” is so badly written its not funny. The show is going rapidly downhill because of this. Bishop is an analyst not an agent, and to force such a porley writhen character, that doesnt even belong on the team down our throats clearly shows that ncis no longer cares for its fans. Im not a ziva fanatic, the show could easily go on without her, but bishop is really killing the show. I gave her a chance, I really did, but she just does not fit in any way, shape, or form, and she shunts all the… Read more »
TOTALLY AGREE, MEL!! Perfectly said!!! THANK YOU!!!!
I agree that Bishop has no business being on this show! She is destroying the show. It no longer has any spark. I am giving up on it if she is in the returning cast in the fall. All my friends and family feel the same way. Who does she know that gave her this part? She is soooo out of her element. She is even a lousy actress.
I am so glad to know that my all-time favorite program, NCIS, will continue. I miss Ziva but the program still contains the most talented cast and most compelling storyline of all times. I feel as if they are part of our family and I wanted to cry when Gibbs’s dad passed away. I’m part of the “older” audience but I still enjoy a good knock-down / drag-’em-out fight when the good guys win. I hope it’s on for another 12 or 13 years at least for I’ll probably be cancelled by then. Thanks everyone!!!
The very minute they announced Ziva leaving the show. I knew it was the end. Will be really difficult to replace her character. I have not watched more than 5 episodes since Ziva left. Sad to see such a great show go down. They must consider bringing Ziva back.
I think if ziva does not come back the show will soon be over, even with it being renewed the show has got so boring,at least with ziva the team was complete, not so with bishop she adds nothing to the show what so ever, they need to get rid of her and put someone on that is a complement not a let down.
I guess this Tony centered episode wasn’t the big draw they thought it would be.
A 2.3 and 15 million, that is BAD for this show.
My whole family admires this show, but the storylines have not worked out so good for the show — lately. (Quote) I would not go so far to say that the Bishop charakter alone makes the strange difference in season 11, it is Gibbs being out of charakter and the lack of personal tension. Abby and McGee show a constant good performance, DiNozzo got even better. ” Once a crook ” was a real highlight in season 11. Maybe the ratings are a wake up call to the writers to focus on the old charakters and give them believable storylines… Read more »
Ncis has gone downhill this season because of rapidly deteriorating writing including unbelievable plots, superficial treatment of long-standing characters, awful dialog and the elephant in the room: the character of Bishop who is horribly written, poorly acted and possibly the worst thing that has ever happened to the team. The character/actress was obviously given the permanent job without any focus group or feedback assessment (ie ratings) from loyal NCIS viewers. The show has become unwatchable in its present incarnation — it is actually painful to tune in for 10 minutes let alone an hour. The death of Gibbs father deserves… Read more »
This year’s shows are just poorly rewritten versions of previous NCIS episodes or a combination of scenes stolen from other shows. Parsa was a version of Kill Ari. The New Orleans pilot ended episode one with a scene stolen from the movie Heat. Bishop went into the men’s room after Tony a la Ziva, tony is going to Paris next week to bring back an admiral’s daughter, a couple of season’s ago, Tony and Ziva went to Paris to bring back a witness. The reason you are bored is cause you have seen it all before. This year has been… Read more »
The show has gone down hill this year and may not recover at the rate it’s going. The storylines have become predictable and the characters have lost their flare. The addition of Bishop was a mistake. Someone who looks like Bishop and acts like Biship doesn’t quite fit the NCIS agent profile. She might have the brains to be analyst, but not a field agent.
I have to agree with Esther…my husband and I are not real fond of her either. She definitely is not Ziva!
My husband and I love NCIS …haven’t gotten tired of it yet! We do miss Ziva though!
PLEASE take Bishop off the show. My husband will no longer watch it and I am coming to that with each successive show. There has to be someone else with more character and less eyebrows! It is getting very hard to look at her.
