It’s time for San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff to clock out. The Night Shift TV show has been cancelled after four seasons on NBC. The medical drama first premiered in of May of 2014. It ran as a summer series, except in season two, when it was a mid-season replacement.
Airing on the NBC television network, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. The series centers on the quirky, yet extraordinary emergency room night shift at San Antonio Memorial, who’ll risk almost anything to save their patients.
The Night Shift: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million viewers. Compared to season three, it was down by 32% and down by 21%, respectively. The Night Shift did not stack up well against other NBC TV shows. Even among the Peacock Network’s summer series, it earned pretty low ratings, so the cancellation makes sense.

So why do they use 18-49 Who only care about crappy reality tv or their damn phones. Then the rest of us lose good shows

The best summer show to watch. Loved the storyline and the characters. So sick of realty tv and the hate in the world. This show had heart!
Say it isn’t so! Here’s an idea the networks should open up the polls to other than the 18 to 49 demographic group. Perhaps it might help any viewers outside of that group keep the shows they enjoy. I for one am finding myself with having to experience the cancelations of too, too many great shows lately.

Very upset by this cancellation. Was the only show to be able to watch in summer besides reruns and reality shows. Was one of the top 3 in my must watch list. The quirkiness, current issues, humor and drama made it definitely the best show of the summer season – in all seasons actually
I believe NBC should have renewed “The Night Shift” and should have promoted it more so people when and how to find it! It was a great show with great stories and great acting!
Agree – we only found out by accident when looking on Netflix for something to watch – needed to be advertised much more

I realy enjoyed this show and watched every episode. So sad that NBC can’t see it’s valued entertainment.
I have been watching the Night Shift since the beginning, and am very disappointed that it is not returning for a 5th season. It was the only television show I looked forward to watching each summer. I loved the plots, characters and actors….it was exciting, realistic and one of the best medical dramas on the air. So sorry I will no longer be able to watch it. BUMMER!
That is a Hugh mistake to cancel this show. This has been one of the BEST shows on TV. I have been watching it from day one. PLEASE RECONSIDER ….
I absolutely loved Night Shift, utterly heart broken, that you have cancelled season 5. I was completely addicted to watching all episodes, and I was watching from the UK.
I was watching it on Netflix in Northern Ireland and I want it back too! They have to remember they sell these shows to other countries but if the yanks don’t like it then it’s cancelled.
