What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. Although they’re kind of quirky, San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff is extraordinary. They’ll risk almost anything to save their patients. Season three ended with Paul Cummings (Bailey) leading a staff walk-out after his father bought the hospital and fired Topher. Meanwhile, overseas, TC Callahan (Macken) was knocked out, during a refugee camp bombing. The fourth season picks up two days later, with everyone dealing with the consequences of their decisions. In Syria, TC’s proclivity for chaos helps him save people.
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 32% and down by 21%, respectively. Find out how The Night Shift stacks up against other NBC TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Although season four premiered with much lower numbers than last season, it is still a bit too early to use the ratings to predict whether NBC will cancel or renew The Night Shift for season five. That said, this show’s audience has declined from year to year, particularly in its demo ratings. While I haven’t left my perch, my interest and appetite are piqued. Absolutely love this show!!!! I really hope it comes back!! It got me through my long night shifts. The characters kept me engaged the entire time. Please keep it going.
The ratings are probably down due to the interruptions of the show by other things. It was never on when it was supposed to be. I love this show and had to use my NBC app to catch up, due to it being rescheduled. I hope they renew for season 5!

Great show, but our local channel in Philadelphia chose to show the Eagles preseason games on Thursday nights. This had to negate some viewership in the ratings.

We loved The Night Shift, this season was hard to watch though because it was always pre-empted by baseball and rescheduled to play in the middle of the night. We’d try to record but then it wasn’t on then either.
My family loves the Night Shift. It would be a huge mistake and disappointment if this show is canceled. Please renew!!!

Yes Topher is extremely missed of course & I do wish that they would of had @ least one show to celebrate his life, go thru memories as well as have some kind of memorial for him … The clipboard at the ER station was a very nice & the few times his name was brought was also a nice touch. Please renew! Most hospital type dramas have become mundane but with the slightly quirky characters and the mixture of a city ER and medics in the service, it’s a refreshing change. Love it!!!!
