LIVES HANG IN THE BALANCE AT SAN ANTONIO MEMORIAL AS ‘THE NIGHT SHIFT’ IS RENEWED FOR A FOURTH SEASON
NBC’s Military Medical Drama Has Won Over Viewers with Its Diverse Cast and True-Life Depiction of the Everyday Bustle in a Big City Hospital
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Nov. 17, 2016 — Doctors, nurses and the medical staff at San Antonio Memorial Hospital will be busier than ever next year as NBC has renewed its fast-paced medical drama “The Night Shift” for a fourth season.
The announcement was made by Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment.
“Week after week ‘The Night Shift’ tells incredibly engaging and emotional stories that draw us into a unique world,” said Salke. “We are delighted to renew the show for an exciting fourth season and look forward to continue working with such a great cast and executive producing team.”
Last summer “The Night Shift” averaged a 1.4 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 6.8 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” averages from Nielsen Media Research, making it the #1 summer drama on the Big 4 networks. “Night Shift” remained undefeated through the summer in its Wednesday 10-11 p.m. timeslot versus all regular competition on ABC and CBS in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
The cast includes Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Robert Bailey Jr., JR Lemon, Tanaya Beatty and Scott Wolf.
“The Night Shift” is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”) serve as executive producers and writers.
What do you think? Are you a fan of The Night Shift TV series? Will you watch the fourth season on NBC?
I found this show a couple months ago and I am not happy the “Night Shift” will not be back. There is so much more that can happen with the changes in season 4. Bummer
My husband and I LOVE this series. This should never been taken off the air.
The Night Shift has had episodes with doctors who volunteered for service in the mideast, but it is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a “military medical drama.”
