What’s This TV Show About?
A Vampire Diaries spin-off, airing on The CW television network, The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires who have returned to reclaim New Orleans. In season four, the Mikaelsons reunite, only to face an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil with strong ties to their most vulnerable family member. After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, they must stand their ground and forge an alliance with those who hate them most: Marcel (Davis) and Vincent (Gatewood).
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Originals averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 940,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 15% and up by 1%, respectively. Learn how The Originals stacks up against the other CW TV shows.
On May 10, 2017, The Originals was renewed for a fifth season which will debut April 18, 2018. On July 20th, it was announced the series would end with season five. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Since The Vampire Diaries ended, Reign is ending, and it seems likely freshman dramas Frequency and No Tomorrow will not return, I suspect The CW will renew The Originals for season five. Much like this season though, I don’t expect they’ll issue a full 22 episode order. Subscribe to be notified of any cancellation or renewal news.

This show has so many possible future stories. Please don’t take away the best show on TV. I fell in love with the characters on The Vampire Diaries. I followed them to their own show. KEEP THE ORIGINALS GOING!!!! Long live the Mikaelsons. If it must go have the decency to give it a full year of episodes and a story to end all stories. This season is not that. Please renew this show! It is the best show on television! I would miss this show so much! Every actor is all of the starring roles are superb! Many of them deserve awards and so the writers and producers. The show is truly a gem. The ratings may not be off the charts, but it has a very loyal and devoted fan base. Please, please, please renew the show already! I check everyday for updates and the absolute lack of newsis making me insane!
Renewed, this is the best show ever
The Originals should have a season 5,6,7,8,9,10~ and so on. The writers are crazy talented the actors couldn’t have been more perfect and to be completely honest coming from some who waits for The Originals every Friday night I wouldn’t know what I would do without the show! I waited almost a year anticipating season 4! I would do it again and again if that’s what it took, however I hope that doesn’t become a habit but I need this show. Good and evil always in conflict. A great show. Renew.
There is so much more to their story. Bring Candice King to the show…..”Caroline” and “Klaus”….that’s a romance many of us want to see happen. “Freya” deserves to be happy. I believe the show has as big of following as TVD. Some of us love this show more.
The Originals deserve just as much of a renewal as The Vampire Diaries. I truly enjoyed them both. Believe it or not, there really is a venue for supernatural shows out here, and a pretty strong following. #Lovethe Originals.
I love the new season after only a few episodes-the only thing that Klaus needs is Caroline-I would hate to see one more of my favorites be cancelled-wishing the best to The Originals
I think it’s the only show on The C.W. that’s worth watching, next to supernatural. I hope it gets picked up for at least 2-3 more seasons. Ratings are only going to get bigger as the vampire diaries fans start watching it. Fingers crossed.

Definately renew………….If Supernatural made it 12 seasons to date ,I think the originals can definately go season 5 ………
