First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

I thought this one of the most thought provoking shows. Are we trying to dumb down the USA by cancelling it? The acting and writing was great. A different time slot maybe. Please
Wow! How ignorant and ridiculous NBC continues to be. Cancelling an intelligent, well acted and written TV show (Outlaw) it’s no wonder I’ve turned to AMC, TNT and British TV for entertainment. I ventured back b/c of this show but now they’ve gone and cancelled it just as I predicted they would b/c for some reason they never seem to know a good thing when they’ve got it! NBC is apparantly run by a bunch of idiots. At least they are consistent!! See ya’.. I won’t be back.
Out of the floods of all the new shows, it was our favorite!!! I retired on September 30th……but just before, at the courthouse where I worked, I even got 3 of the judges watching it. I can’t believe it’s off. First on Fridays…then switched to Saturdays…..GIVE IT A CHANCE. Such a bummer!! The Defenders, Hawaii Five-0 and Outlaw are the best. I know I’m not alone on this. PLEASE!!!!!
Outlaw is one of the best shows since Law and Order debut. Jimmy Smits is fabulous in his role as Justice Garza. The show has good writing and deals with today’s topics. Maybe Fridats is the problem. Be sure to count DVR and Tivo . Many people use these as a way to keep up with the show. DON’T CANCEL OUTLAW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally a show with real substance and close to reality endings, and it gets canceled? Ridiculous. Let’s continue to focus on lame remake shows that rip their stories from headlines, like Law and Order, let’s not spend any money on real acting and original story lines. No wonder NBC is trailing behind CBS.
I think it was a great show that was stuck in a bad time slot. Especially when it went to saturday. I try not to get to attached to shows anymore, they hardly ever make it past season one.

This is one sharp show and needs time to grow, reminds me of Friday Night Lights and how a show needs time to find it’s audience.
I was shocked to see my Tivo did not record Outlaw tonight so I thought something was wrong so I went to check the NBC site and I just got wind about the Cancelation. I cannot believe that its been cancelled. And of course us as viewers are the last to here I was so looking forward to the episode tonight and figured Halloween weekend so ok. Love Outlaw. It,s different from so many other shows. Age 18-49??? How about us older folks that don’t like all the “cutesy” stuff. Keep it going!!!
Figures!!!! i loved that show! i am so sick of csi this csi that, then there’s law & order here & law and order there, honest to God, can we get some variety? not to mention the Junk reality shows that show lazy ass people just gettin richer & lazier as America continues to watch them & feed them, & dont get me started on the dating ones – Very Painful – Pathetically Painful to watch!! So sorry to learn this series has been canceled. Great story-lines. Thought provoking. Hardly any show can have that said about them. Acting was superb. Writing was excellent. I think if NBC would have put this show in a good time slot and have given it a chance….promoted it more…..the ratings would have been good enough to be picked up. didn’t the owner of NBC LIKE IT????? My family and I will miss the Outlaw very much.
NBC does more then suck. It was a good show and different then the junk on most of the time. Outlaw should be given another chance.

Our family liked Outlaw, it should be given a chance, maybe a different day or timeslot, well written and acted. Big Mistake to cancel this show, it has potential.
