TV show description:
Based on the Michael Sokolove book, Drama High, the Rise TV show comes from creators Jason Katims and Jeffrey Seller. The drama centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to the real teacher from the book, Lou Volpe.
Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he has enlisted for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
By changing the musical to the provocative “Spring Awakening,” and casting performers other than the usual subjects, Lou stirs up controversy that doesn’t end at the auditorium doors. The ripple effect washes over not only the program’s assistant director Tracey Wolfe (Perez), and the kids, but also football coach Sam Strickland (Tippett).
As the changes take hold, soon the faculty, student body, and even the town residents will find themselves caught up in the new spirit at the school. The drama explores the idea of finding inspiration in unexpected places.
Series Finale:
Episode #10 — Opening Night
During opening night of “Spring Awakening” personal crises and dilemmas percolate in the wings backstage as Simon (Ted Sutherland) struggles to overcome his biggest fear, Lilette (Auli’i Cravalho) withholds a huge development from Robbie (Damon J. Gillespie), Robbie has a momentous breakthrough, and Tracey (Rosie Perez) draws a line in the sand. Over the course of one evening, decisions are made that will change Lou (Josh Radnor) and Stanton Drama forever. (Courtesy NBC.)
First aired: May 15, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like the Rise TV series? Should this TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a second season on NBC?
Rise is a fabulous show with such a talented cast and such relevant story lines. I enjoyed this just as much or even more than This Is Us. Can’t fathom why NBC would cancel such quality TV. Please reconsider and bring back. Remember quality first. PLEASE
Rise is an awesome show enjoyed by different generations. My teenage grandsons love as well as their parents who watch it together, my 58 year daughter as well as 70’s grandma. the cast is amazing the singing beautiful and the story real. there is too much junk on TV too many realities, game shows. Please somebody pick up this show and bring it back. It was not given enough time to catch on.
Please don’t cancel this show, it’s real. So tired of reality shows, game shows etc. This show ranks up there with Friday Night Lights and This Is Us. Please keep a really good shoe.
I think this was an excellent show about real families and things that really happen to teens and their families. Please bring it back, I’m so tired of “reality” shows like Big Brother Survivor, and the one where people run through obstacle courses etc. Please don’t cancel a show about real people and real problems.
Great show! Please don’t cancel!
This show was the best piece of drama that I had seen in a long time. Please do not cancel it! I was looking forward to the next season!
Please don’t cancel this show. I love it. My students love it. It portrays more of real life in high school. This show should not be cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can not believe Rise is being cancelled!!! I looked forward every week for the program to come on. I was so looking forward to next season. PLEASE bring Rise back!
Rise is the best show I have seen in a long time. It is equal in quality to This is Us and Parenthood. I am completely disgusted that NBC has canceled the show.
This sensitive, timely series never was given the chance to shine!!! It was full of what is right with our young! All we see on television is dark, brutal, and lacking Hope for a Better Tomorrow!
PLEASE renew this terrific. Series! Full of gifted, talented actors!
I liked the series I would love to see these characters grow
I loved this show, was looking for the next episode, what happened? Please renew the series. I like things that are based on a true story, really disappointed it hasn’t been on for two weeks following the opening night episode????
This show is so good and so relevant to today’s society. Please reconsider and bring it back for another season. Remember, one of today’s top shows, “Big Bang Theory”, wasn’t an initial ratings grabber. “Rise” is the only one of it’s genre on TV. We need the diversity in programs this show provides!
Love love this show, its great acting, and a great story line, don’t cancel this show, its very current and more shows like this should be on tv, less violence and more young people learning about life and in the meantime a great musical! DONT CANCEL PLEASE
I’m an old lady in her 70s. I really liked this series. Great acting and story line.
I’m 79 and I love this show!
Please ,please don’t cancel this show . I loved it! There isn’t much worth watching but this IS!!!!!
