TV show description:
Based on the Michael Sokolove book, Drama High, the Rise TV show comes from creators Jason Katims and Jeffrey Seller. The drama centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to the real teacher from the book, Lou Volpe.
Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he has enlisted for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
By changing the musical to the provocative “Spring Awakening,” and casting performers other than the usual subjects, Lou stirs up controversy that doesn’t end at the auditorium doors. The ripple effect washes over not only the program’s assistant director Tracey Wolfe (Perez), and the kids, but also football coach Sam Strickland (Tippett).
As the changes take hold, soon the faculty, student body, and even the town residents will find themselves caught up in the new spirit at the school. The drama explores the idea of finding inspiration in unexpected places.
Series Finale:
Episode #10 — Opening Night
During opening night of “Spring Awakening” personal crises and dilemmas percolate in the wings backstage as Simon (Ted Sutherland) struggles to overcome his biggest fear, Lilette (Auli’i Cravalho) withholds a huge development from Robbie (Damon J. Gillespie), Robbie has a momentous breakthrough, and Tracey (Rosie Perez) draws a line in the sand. Over the course of one evening, decisions are made that will change Lou (Josh Radnor) and Stanton Drama forever. (Courtesy NBC.)

What do you think? Do you like the Rise TV series? Should this TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a second season on NBC?
Please renew! I love the show. It is so refreshing to see a series about caring, loving, hard working teachers!!! It’s one of the best shows I have seen in years.!!
Please Renew. This was such a smart, well written series. It touched on real issues. Great acting. The characters have depth. I can’t believe that all the best shows get cancelled and the garbage, bubble gum shows are renewed.
RENEW! Best show on TV. Relevant to the issues kids face everyday.
Loved this show……one of the best new shows in awhile. Someone else will do well to pick it up and run with it.
Don’t cancel .
I love this show so sad it is not coming back!!!!!
This show was fantastic! Just binge-watched the whole season! Wishing they’d bring it back!
Is anybody there? PLEASE pick this show up for another season. Superb!
Why are they cancelling one of the BEST shows on TV?????
This show was fantastic. Great acting and storyline. The network is making a huge mistake in canceling this show. We don’t need any more cop shows,we need shows like this that actually lift the human spirit.
Rise is such an uplifting show. I’m sorry to see it go. Hopefully it will be picked up by another network.
Please don’t cancel. I love , love this show!!!
Please don’t cancel Rise. I loved this show. It was one of a few shows that kept me spellbound the whole time I was watching it. I am very sad it has been cancelled as I was looking forward to many more seasons. It is my favorite show. It is as good as if not better than This is Us. Please bring Rise back!
I had the whole series recorded that I have watched with my granddaughter and after we talk about went on. I felt it was a well made show and the actors are very good. Please don’t cancel the show. Love seeing Rosie!!
I had Rise recorded and watch the whole series at once. I have so many questions on what happens to each cast member that I could not wait till the next season came out. When I found out it was canceled, I was walking around my house asking myself questions, and they all started with “What happened to . . . . ” and “Did they all four of those couples end up together”. I just need to say, Please, Please, Please do not cancel the show, please reconsider bringing it back. This is one show that does hit all… Read more »
