TV show description:
Based on the Michael Sokolove book, Drama High, the Rise TV show comes from creators Jason Katims and Jeffrey Seller. The drama centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to the real teacher from the book, Lou Volpe.
Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he has enlisted for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
By changing the musical to the provocative “Spring Awakening,” and casting performers other than the usual subjects, Lou stirs up controversy that doesn’t end at the auditorium doors. The ripple effect washes over not only the program’s assistant director Tracey Wolfe (Perez), and the kids, but also football coach Sam Strickland (Tippett).
As the changes take hold, soon the faculty, student body, and even the town residents will find themselves caught up in the new spirit at the school. The drama explores the idea of finding inspiration in unexpected places.
Series Finale:
Episode #10 — Opening Night
During opening night of “Spring Awakening” personal crises and dilemmas percolate in the wings backstage as Simon (Ted Sutherland) struggles to overcome his biggest fear, Lilette (Auli’i Cravalho) withholds a huge development from Robbie (Damon J. Gillespie), Robbie has a momentous breakthrough, and Tracey (Rosie Perez) draws a line in the sand. Over the course of one evening, decisions are made that will change Lou (Josh Radnor) and Stanton Drama forever. (Courtesy NBC.)
First aired: May 15, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like the Rise TV series? Should this TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a second season on NBC?
It’s an amazing show for our time. For adults and children alike… an actual family show. If NBC cancels, caves under the “p/c” scrutiny in our society, it will be more than a shame. In a world where people are searching for acceptance, a show like this is so relevant!
My daughter and I love this show. It is an amazing show and deserves a second chance.
I think they are making a mistake this show is a great show. Please reconsider this. Love this show and I know if it was put on before or after this is us would. Be a great Tuesday night
This show was amazing and should not be canceled. It filled a gap from This is Us hiatus, and ended up being one of my favorite shows! Hope it gets renewed for more instead of being canceled. The writing and actors are talented and relevant. Come on, NBC!
This is a show that made me hold my breath to see what was next. It was more real than alleged “reality” shows. Wonderful acting, great writing. I guess that’s why it’s gone. It was too good for today’s TV. Yes, I agree. Shame on NBC.
This show was amazing. Lots of true situations that a lot of today kids go thru and many parents dont see. This program needs to return. We need to see how it develops into an ending of some sort. Last episode leaves everyone up in the air with out any answers. Great show with many massages that hit many homes. Needs to come back for a full closure.
This show deals with a lot of today’s issues in our young. Very disappointed with NBC discussion. But then again corrupt cops give them there numbers. Which causes a lot of our problems in our society. What gives NBC?
Can’t believe it, it’s a great show. Right up there with This Is Us. Shame on NBC.
This is a show relevant to not only our youth but to our society as well. Please reconsider your decision. Give all something to watch outside of fake reality shows.
THis show is great!!!
Please renew this show. The writing, the acting, it’s all great. It deserves a second chance.
Please don’t cancel RISE!! It is an amazing show!!!
Please Renew this show. It was great!
Please renew Rise! It is so original and good.
I’m so disappointed about this decision. This is a wonderful show that addresses so many issues that our youth is experiencing today.
