The downfall of Harvey Weinstein isn’t just affecting the film industry. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon is reconsidering two planned TV shows from the producer—The Romanoffs and an untitled drama from David O. Russell.
From Mad Men creator Matt Weiner, The Romanoffs is “set around the globe featuring separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family.” The cast includes Andrew Rannells, Corey Stoll, Mike Doyle, J.J. Feild, Janet Montgomery, and Paul Reiser. Meanwhile, little is known about David O. Russell’s untitled project, but both Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore are attached.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, several Prime Video executives are concerned about the streaming service’s involvement with Harvey Weinstein, whose production company The Weinstein Co. is producing both The Romanoffs and David O. Russell’s new series.
Recently, Weinstein was the subject of a series of articles accusing the producer of sexual assault and harassment over his 20-plus year career. Reportedly, The Weinstein Co. has not put forward any money so far for either Amazon series and the streaming service is trying to remove both projects from the production company.
What do you think? Do you subscribe to Amazon? Do you plan on watching The Romanoffs and/or David O. Russell’s new series?
I think Weinstein should be punished with jail time & huge fines for crimes he commited for decades which is despicable. However, why penalize projects with stars that had nothing to do with his crimes? He should be removed from credits, & the Romanoffs and other project should be shown.
