The CW has been having some great success with DC Comics superhero shows. Now, CBS has gotten into the game with their own entry — Supergirl. While Arrow and The Flash fit well with rest of The CW’s programming, Supergirl seems out of place on CBS, a network known for older-skewing procedurals. Will the new series soar in the ratings or will it crash? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Supergirl revolves around Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). As a girl, she survived Krypton’s destruction by being sent to Earth where she was raised as a human. She kept her powers a secret and now, as an adult, works as an assistant at a big city media conglomerate. Kara’s existence becomes known to the world and she is enlisted by a super-secret agency to help protect the citizens from evil forces as Supergirl. The rest of the cast includes Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood, and Jeremy Jordan.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: Supergirl has been renewed for a second season but is moving to The CW.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

Supergirl will be the highest rated show on the CW! Supernatural, which is awful and has been around for over ten years, barely even crack two million viewers a week and Supergirl’s worst night was three times that.
Supernatural is way better than this DISGRACE to DC comics and if you have read even a single Supergirl comic book or know anything about her you would know that this show SUCKS
Totally agreed. For the first 13 episodes, I kept hoping it would get better. After 14 episodes, I had enough. I hate that she works for SHIELD/The Initiative, I hate her constant need for ego stroking and validation, I hate her demeaning job, I hate how boring/annoying the male characters can get, I hate how the show insists on how to pronounce her name wrong, I hate the bad effects and lame “action” and, most of all, I hate how meaningless Kara Zor-El’s struggles are on a day to day basis, consisting of fighting for good PR, juggling love interests,… Read more »
