The brave officers of The Chicago Code fight for what’s right in their fair city. Unfortunately, that battle doesn’t attract enough viewers to keep their TV show on the air. FOX has cancelled the cop show after one season.
Created by The Shield’s Shawn Ryan, The Chicago Code revolves around the officers of the Chicago Police Department. Veteran detective Jarek Wysocki (Jason Clarke) leads a special unit that fights against crime and corruption in the windy city. Others in the cast include Jennifer Beals, Matt Lauria, Devin Kelley, Todd Williams, Billy Lush, and Delroy Lindo.
The series debuted to an okay 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.43 million total viewers. In week two, it dropped 17% in the demo and the ratings kept dropping in subsequent weeks.

On May 2nd, The Chicago Code hit a series low with a meager 1.6 in the demo and 5.59 million viewers. Last Monday’s episode bumped up to a 1.7 rating but that’s still far from a good number.
Looking at FOX season averages, the cop TV series is the second lowest-rated drama still on the air (after Fringe on Friday nights).
FOX has now decided to cancel The Chicago Code after one season and 13 episodes. The remaining two unaired episodes will air on the next two Mondays, May 12th and May 23rd.
Ryan reacted on Twitter by writing, “Fox suits loved the show, but have a business to run.”
What do you think? Are you sorry there won’t be a second season? Why do you think this TV series didn’t catch on?

I cannot believe Fox did it to Chicago Code. the whole show was one of complete attention getting. Actors – top drawer, scenery authentic, story line intriqing and the Chicago accents are right on! I am disappointed to say the very least!! Maybe Fox couldn’t stand the politics of the show. Hopefully, it will get on cable television and USA or AMC will pick up the show. Hate to loose it. that’s a pox on you Fox!
Chicago Code is a great series!! They keep other cra-! but cancel the good shows.
How many freeking years is American Idol gonna be on? Chicago Code showed the beauty of Chicago and the politics.
Fox, you s—!!!!!!
We loved this show! It was definitely loaded with stupid decisions and unbelievable content, but I live in Chicago, right by Humboldt Park. If you paid attention to the show, you’d think Humboldt Park is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city! Not true, but there are definitely screwed up areas near the park.
It was always fun to see the chase through the city, see familiar streets, etc.
We will miss the show.
Fox has lost a viewer – Why bother getting invested in new shows only to have them yanked before season two? This was an intelligent, well-acted, well-written show. I hope somebody else picks it up. I am done with FOX!
You got that right, I’m out too.
Couldn’t agree more!
Bring “Chicago Code” back. Love it!
This did not suprise me. The SECOND BEST SHOW ON TV (after Southland) gets cancelled. Why? Because they think that “18-49 aged people” aren’t watching it, and they haven’t upgraded ratings compiling in about 45 years, and they don’t seem to know that like MILLIONS OF PEOPLE RECORD THE SHOW AND WATCH IT AT ANOTHER TIME. I’m so sick of network TV. Thank God I have basic cable.
Most intelligent show on TV; fantastic story lines and interesting characters. Obviously something Fox wouldn’t want to keep. Hope it ends up someplace where it’s appreciated for the great show that it is.
it’s pitiful that they keep these reality shows on for young kids and all adults have too suffer you can deffinatley see that they only cater too the young and too hell with us adults
You nailed it – I can’t believe Sookie gets her own show and these guys gotta beat it.
Once again a show is canceelled that has great promise!! I liked this show as much as Journey Man and New Amsterdam ( remember those shows)? Sometimes a show needs a season to find an audiance, the suits in show business don’t see it that way. Shame on you…
I agree with Sox11. Fox did not know what they had.networks sometimes dont allow shows to build. sad. i truly hope starz or fx pick up this show. it deserves another season
This show belongs on FX. The potential for the storyline is so much better there than on network TV. Someone put it on cable!
Well if their canceling shows after 2 count 2 episodes then their full of themselves. ‘Hey these ratings aren’t the best but let’s cancel and just go through another show and another show until we get ratings that’ll satisfy our ratings ego.’ Well, I think Fox might even make american idol an all the time thing. Stupid watch 11 people get their dreams broken and 1 gets their dreams come true. And what happens after House and Bones are gone? Bye fox. YOU GUYS F**KING SUCK, YOU JUST LOST A VERY LOYAL VIEWER!!!! ONCE AGAIN F**K YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
So many new shows I have come to enjoy over the past year have almost all been cancelled. Hopefully another network will pick up “The Chicago Code” like TNT did with “Southland”. I am so tired of the junk that keeps getting re-newed on tv.
What a bummer!!! This was a great show. It’s a sad day!
To everyone above me here, how on EARTH did you like this piece of crap??? It was slapstick, unbelievably silly and was IMO the absolute worst cop show ever devised. The Good Guys was worth watching, this was horrendous. GOOD RIDENCE!
