NBC isn’t staying friends with The Enemy Within. The network has cancelled the freshman drama series so there won’t be a second season coming for 2019-20.
A psychological thriller, The Enemy Within stars Jennifer Carpenter, Morris Chestnut, Raza Jaffrey, Kelli Garner, Cassandra Freeman, and Noah Mills. The character-based drama centers on former CIA operative and now infamous traitor Erica Shepherd (Carpenter) and FBI Agent Will Keaton (Chestnut). In order to apprehend a looming threat, Keaton must tap Shepherd’s expertise, even though she’s serving a life sentence in a supermax prison.
The first season of The Enemy Within averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.40 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 20th.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, the series ranks 10th in the demo and seventh in total viewers. Based on the rankings, it would seem like the series would be renewed but the ratings trended downward as the season progressed. Considering that The Enemy Within had The Voice as a lead-in, NBC execs were likely not satisfied with the show’s low retention rate either.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Village and Abby’s TV shows.

Cannot believe Enemy Within has been cancelled, look forward to watching this each week, excellent show, superb actors and writing, very disappointed.
My family loved this show. We can’t believe it was cancelled! Outstanding actors, intriguing storyline, and full of action. Extremely disappointed.

Another bone-headed move from the network who refused to break the Harvey Weinstein story and who brought back the trainable Brian Williams.
We have been checking Hulu for the next season and I just looked it up here on Google. Sad we really liked the show. We are big consumers. 5 kids 7 Grand kids. Not sure what advertisers are thinking.
Why aren’t you listening to your viewers??? We want the show back!!! I don’t want to come home and watch reality shows; heck most people get enough of that crap every day! I want to come home and watch a show that allows you to forget your troubles for 60 minutes.
I Absolutely loved these episodes and couldn’t wait for season two!!! To find out it’s been canceled I am thoroughly disappointed!!!
Jennifer Carpenter is an amazing actress as was the rest of the cast!

Enemy Within was a fantastic thriller – cannot believe reality tv overshadows decent viewing. We need more entertainment like this!!!
To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’m PISSED! “The Enemy Within” was a top notch show that they didn’t give a chance. The show was entertaining and thrilling. They left us hanging with no resolutions. I asked my sister just on Saturday when was it coming back on, then today, Sunday, she sent me an article that it was canceled. WTH! DAMN DAMN DAMN!
I LOVE THAT SHOW. ALWAYS HAD YOU IN THE EDGE! Just when you think you’ve figured it out, it flips. Love that! You talk about it like urs real with your friends and coworkers. I HOPE ANOTHER NETWORK IS SMART ENOUGH TO PICK IT UP.

Enemy within was a 10 out of 10 for best series. I had it recorded and just watched the last episode. I am 63, have watched all the cop series, how could this be canceled?? Putting it against the Voice, the hardest competition.
The Enemy Witin was a good show. Disappointed. Dollface is also very good. Zooey’s Extraordinary Playlist has a very good start. Also wish the Limitless had continued.
I am very,very disappointed that the Enemy Within was cancelled,,it was intriguing,and mysterious,,With pretty much reality shows taking over tv,,it was a nice change of pace,,I pray that someone else picks up this amazing show,
