The Game might not be over. The series may return for a new season, which would be its tenth, on The CW. A revival is currently in the works, and it would change the format of the series from a half-hour comedy to an hour long format, per Deadline.
Mara Brock Akil and Devon Greggory are writing the new series, and some of the original cast could return for the revival as well, but it isn’t clear who will return yet. During its ninth season, the cast included Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Coby Bell, Brandy, Lauren London, and Jay Ellis. The series first aired on The CW for three seasons before it landed on BET for its next six.
The plot of the revival was described as follows:
“The Game family was coasting to retirement but they heard the call of the fans to make a comeback… and like the record-breaking winners they are, they decided to pick up and move from a half-hour sitcom in San Diego to a one-hour dramedy in Baltimore. This time, our out-of-touch old-timers are determined to help a bunch of knuckle-head new-schoolers navigate the ruthless game of football on and off the field. They will clash through the pitfalls of fame, fortune and love. Some will win, others will lose, but that’s what happens when you play The Game.”
The revival has not officially been picked up, so fans will have to wait and see if The Game returns.
What do you think? Do you want more of The Game? Will you watch the revival if it lands on The CW?
