As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

I’m missing The Gates like a distance family member I haven’t seen in a long time, anxiously waiting and anticipating the wonderful return. This show was everything I loved in one show, mystery, excitement, supernatural elements, romance, hidden irony, and family value. This was the best show on the whole chillers network. It would mean so much to me and other fans if the show was aired for a second season if nothing else with the second season I feel there could be a proper ending instead of leaving everyone and suspense.

This was a show that both my husband and i liked, too bad abc had to cancel this. The raitings were probably low as it was air a a late time if they would of gotten a earlier showing time this probably would of hit awesome ratings. Come on abc give it a second go!
very seldom for to appreciate a tv series… but The gates catches me and its powerhouse cast…I crave for next season ..think about it

ARE YOU SERIOUS I FINALLY WATCH ED THE FIRST SEASON. SITTING ON THE EDGE OF MY BED WITH ALL THAT SUSPENCE FOR THE NEXT EPISODE AND NOW YOU ALL ARE CANCELING IT…LIKE REALLY, YOU HAD HOW MANY Buffy seasons and I lIke that show but it’s no way as good as this show and we just got a tease…what happen lost the creative MIND FOR IT?
I’ve never loved show so much. Them the ending was ridiculous, then to learn this is it. I’m highly upset. Omg.
Really LOVED the Gates wish it could have went further. Will miss it. Maybe one day more seasons will be made.
Loved The Gates! Seriously who’s in charge! The Secret Circle? There is a true following for the supernatural! Awesome actors and actresses who bring it every episode and crave more, and then whoever decides that it’s over! Maybe someone could come up with just a channel for the loyal fans to continue watching our favorites!
I just finished watching The Gates, season 1, and really enjoyed it! I wonder how the decision to cancel it was made? Was it by using the Nielsen Ratings? If anyone is interested, look up how the Nielsen Ratings works. I feel there are way too many discrepancies in this method of measuring tv viewing! Here is just one comment I read, “the number of viewers within the 18–49 age range is more important than the total number of viewers”. i completely agree with Chris…The Gates was incredible…i got very hooked on this series just to be totally let down and left wanting more that i will never get it’s utter bull.
This just isn’t fair to all the people that loved ((((The Gates)))) We have been waiting so long for season 2, we are all so brocken hearted….because this Show is the most Fantastic, most Amazing, most interesting and it’s our most favorite show ever. All my friends and family just loved The Gates, why, why, why can’t this show go on, Please don’t Cancel it. WE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. We can’t beleave it was canceled after waiting this long to watch season 2. It really made us all so mad and so upset.
Why cancel the gates?the series is the best ever. Got my ass glued to my seat, so sad.

You know i was out today in search of the gates season2 after i had finished d first thrilling season which made me thirst for more then i got to know that it has been canceled…..someone pls fix this
